My heart started to beat as I discovered this news. Just who had bought the developers of Rock Band, Dance Central and the creators of Guitar Hero? At first, I thought it might be Activision and they might take Guitar Hero back to its roots. Then I thought that would be silly. So, who have MTV Games and Viacom sold Harmonix to? Well… it looks like they’ve gone back to being an independent studio.
The good news? Harmonix will continue to support Rock Band with DLC as normal, and the other partnerships that Harmonix have with EA, MadCatz and Fender. So, expect to see Rock Band instruments and Rock Band games as usual. Even better is the fact that Harmonix aren’t leaving Dance Central and Rock Band behind, and will “be continued to be worked on at Harmonix for the forseeable future”.
The bad news? The next DLC pack will be The BeeGees…

That could have been a real Tragedy but thankfully, as an independent studio, they’ll be Stayin’ Alive for a lot longer now. Saying that, I don’t really have any Secret Love for rhythm-based gaming so I really should just leave this article Alone. I’ll just find the door *searches* Ahh, This Is Where I Came In.

Heard about this in early November. I thought another sale had been made then and I was worried as to my RB DLC future.
Also, Bee Gees came out early in December and I’ll have you know their songs are extremely fun at parties ;)

Hope there’s more metal packs like Nuclear Blast, Limb, Earache and dare I say Magic Circle Music. I should be getting Rock Band 3 but I just don’t know if its the right time.
