TSA, Now Available In Turkish

Web design isn’t difficult, in fact, if you’ve got the time and a bit of inspiration, it’s actually quite easy and if you’re powered by a pre-built CMS (like, for example, WordPress) the actual coding is somewhat simplified too – you don’t need to worry about the low level stuff, and can just throw bits onto the page as you need them.  That’s how TheSixthAxis works – although we started with a custom built system (thanks, Michael) we moved onto WordPress after just under a year and barring a few server issues the free, open source software has served us well.

TSA’s design and structure has gone back and forth a few times, but between myself and Alex we’re pretty happy with our decisions to push our original content a little harder but always ensuring that the newsy stuff is up there too – hopefully you, our lovely readers and loyal fans, also agree.  We moved to the current design in February of 2010, and it’s slowly grown and evolved since then to what it is now.

And, whilst we’re more than happy to help out other sites as we continue to grow (seriously, contact us if you run a site, we’d be delighted to take a look) there’s one Turkish site that’s continuously borrowed our design and our content without our permission and against our greater wishes.  We’ve tried to keep in touch and at first the site in question was happy enough to credit us with a link, but since then despite our best, friendly efforts, that has stopped and right now – well, you’d have a hard time distinguishing the two – look:

Yes, it’s like spot the difference – except, of course, one is in Turkish.  We’ve tried everything to reach out to these guys but it’s simply not happening (If anyone speaks Turkish that could assist with communicating between the sites that would be most helpful), so rather than continue to get emotional about the whole thing (you’ll notice some TSA staffers being a wee bit more grumpy than normal recently) we’re just to throw the site out there so you guys know that the Turkish site isn’t affiliated with us in any way and all the visuals, HTML and CSS are used without our consent.  To repeat what it says in our footer next to our copyright notice: thesixthaxis does not license content or design to any other site.

It’s a shame, really – but when people are in contact asking if they’re anything to do with us perhaps it’s time to say publicly that they’re not.  But, you know, if you’re Turkish (as some of our readers are) then perhaps the other site might suit your needs a little better.  Good luck to them, we certainly don’t want to wish them any harm although it’s safe to say they’d probably be much better off in this industry with their own style.  And again, if anyone out there running a gaming site or blog with some nice content wants to get in touch, cool – drop us a line – although we’d rather you had your own design…

  1. Sue them for millions.

    • We are exploring further legal action but we’ve been told that due to them being outside the EU and not in the US it would be very difficult and expensive. We’ll keep looking into it though.

    • better yet, change the background to a greek flag, that’ll go down well!!!

      • Hahahaha all icons, everything covered in the greek flag.

I say we gather 300 strong gamers and bring war to them!!!

      • that is a brilliant idea !

    • I have to ask, who has hello kitty on their firefox? :P lmao

  2. I have only one thing to say here: Hello Kitty?

    • Haha busted!

    • My first thought as well :)

    • I was expecting Hannah Montana

    • Yes, hello.
      What?

    • haha yah i wasnt sure what i was most shocked at, the cheek of these guys to steal pritty much the whole site, or your hello kitty background.

    • First thing i noticed

  3. Sue them!
This fiasco has been going on for too long already.

  4. Its not fair on evryone at TSA who have spent their time on thesixthaxis.com, for it to be copied.

  5. What gets me is that they are obviously talented & know what they are doing to have ripped off an earlier version of the current design so well. Why not just put that talent to good use and come up with your own design.

Sadly a lot of the news & content also gets ripped off. Bastard!

  6. Time to include some mild anti-Turkish sentiments in the site’s main design, I think.

You know, things like saying that Turkish Delight is rubbish, or that they’d better watch out or we’ll eat Turkey for Christmas. That we’re glad they changed it to Istanbul, cos Constantinople was a rubbish name.

    • How about some articles about Turkeys wonderful treatment of the Kurds. Or a “Kurds are better than Turks” watermark.

    • But Turkish Delights /are/ rubbish. Totally not delightful at all. It’s like a jelly type thing in the middle, but it’s not. It’s a crap version of jelly. Ugh, Turkish Delights.

      • How can you say that? Turkish delight is bliss.

      • Turkish Delight is the food of Gods, especially the rose and yellow fancy packs you can get

      • urgh

I feel sick just thinking about its minging-ness

      • They’re awful. It’s like eating perfumed jelly (gross).

      • I like that Turkish Delight coated in chocolate, the ones on their own with powder all over them are minging to the highest degree though.

      • WHAT? The chocolate covered stuff isn’t worthy of being called Turkish Delight, the real stuff is that ‘perfumed’ (and amazingly tasty) stuff :P

    • Actually I really like Turkish Delight, I’m just saying we should say we don’t…

Perhaps a new tagline for TSA would do it? Instead of “Gaming News and Opinions” go with “Kurds and Wu-Hey!”

  7. You sure TSA didn’t copy off of ‘Leader Gamer’?!! :D
Seriously though, that’s pretty bad. How long has this been going on for now? I remember an article on it a while back. They have the same content too don’t they?

So the saying is right. “If you can’t beat TSA, copy them.”

  8. Grubby thieving oiks.

  9. That’s incredible – they even have the same advert! It’s a shame they can’t be persuaded to do stop. I had a quick look at the site and there doesn’t seem to be many people commenting so i’m guessing the membership is low. If i can figure out the turkish i might leave a few comments there myself…

  10. I wonder if the Turkish Gordon strange has more points than me…

    • Awesome… I wonder if their readers rip off our readers too… Gonna have track down the Turkish bunionmike (yes, I know that’s not his name, but its how I always read it)

      • I remember a few months back, when I spyed their webpage, that one cheeky git had a Profile name that looked like a ripoff of mine!

      • BIGGAYAL-1992 was hilarious I’ll have you know. :-)
