Crysis 2 Demo Is Xbox Exclusive

EA has revealed PC-exclusive Crysis’ sequel will be getting a multiplayer demo next week – exclusive to Xbox 360.

In a move that has unsurprisingly led to some rage-filled (yet amusing) comments from PC gamers who are big fans of the franchise over on NeoGAF, the demo will be released next Tuesday for Xbox Live Gold members and will feature two modes (Team Instant Action and Crash Site) on the game’s Skyline map.

There’s no word of any demo before or after launch for the other two platforms, but the full game will be released on 360, PC, and PS3 on March 25th.

  1. Wow a whole week…

  2. I watched this on YouTube literally five seconds before this was posted, aha.

It’s a shame it’s Xbox exclusive, the demo.

  3. Holy crap that looks awesome! But why oh why would you make a demo exclusive? Surely to get more people into the game you should get the demo out to as many people as possible?

    • Also Invader’s Must Die is a perfect FPS trailer song. It fits brilliantly with this and the Duke Nukem one.

Oh, and that slide move is too good.

    • They must have realised that with so many awesome games coming out before their release, PS3 owners would be so busy and wouldn’t have time to play the demo?! :D
I’ll buy it anyways, even without playing the demo.

Also, you’re right, Invader’s Must Die is perfect for FPS trailers. .. Well, perfect for any action actually.

  4. I prefer singleplayer demos to multiplayer demos.

    • Yeah me too. I would much rather get a feel of the single player game.

  5. Considering I haven’t seen a single gameplay video from the PS3, I was relying on a demo being released to persuade me to get it. The whole point of a demo is to get it out there so players can try before they buy.
Probs won’t get the game now unless I play it at a mates house and like it.

    • Watch back Sony’s E3 Presentation, pretty cool single player gameplay was shown IIRC

      • Yeah, but that was such an early build of the game, I’d prefer to see some recent-ish gameplay at least.

  6. any news on a map editor???

    • It’s been confirmed to be present on all platforms. Whether it’s the same on all platforms remains to be seen…

  7. Hmmm, considering it’s the PC gamers who bought abd supported the crysis series to where it is now, this is quite an ignorant kick in the teeth from EA, might get it pre owned instead now so they don’t get any of my money, bu there’s probably one one of those online passes that i’ll have to buy….

  8. On topic, this looks pretty sweet, hope it’s innovative or just plain fun enough to separate it from other cookie cutter shooters.

Off topic, why is that music being used for every trailer these days? Ever since it featured in Britain’s Got Talent, I’ve heard it in the Scott Pilgrim trailer, the Duke Nukem trailer and now this…getting a bit old!

  9. Exclusivity for a demo does seem rather a rather foolish way to go about business. Not only would it potentially lose sales on other platforms, but I fail to see the benefit for MS either. It’s hardly a console seller is it?

    • That’s what MS is like. They don’t think, just throw money at everything.

    • Microsoft probably asked for this :P

    • As I see it, the demo is essentially a test to make sure everything works in a live environment. They would probably only need a Set number of people to test this out, so rather than waste resources creating a demo for all three platform they did it for one.

      • Ah, that explains it! Thanks for clearing it up posh feller.

      • One is most welcome :oD

  10. That was brilliant! Only question now is whether to get it on PC or PS3…
