PS3 Mass Effect 2 Corrupt Save Issue Fixed

PS3 fans dreading a case of crippling ‘Shepardsaveitis‘ can rest assured, as BioWare have located the eldritch alien infestation that has resulted in some players losing hours of progress and are now frantically testing it in lieu of its submission to Sony. Likely to find its way to Sony’s verification team this Friday, there’s hope the fix will be live sometime in the following days.

From the forum post:

Patch Notes

-Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
-Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
-Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
-Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
-Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
-Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.

There is a workaround available for those not willing to wait for the update, though it is somewhat complicated (not really) and involves the moons of Saturn being in perfect alignment. Or, you know, save often. Apparently that helps.

  1. I’ve noticed some doors freeze momentarily when opening them so i guess that’s the level streaming bit they mean.
Kudos to Bioware for the prompt fix and i’m so glad ME2 came to PS3 or i might have missed out on something really special.

    • You do realise the patch hasn’t been released yet right?

  2. Great, will get this with DS2 today :-D

  3. Hopefully won’t happen to me. My first playthrough took 42 hours, just started my second one as ‘evil female’ shepard.
