SEGA has just confirmed that it will be releasing ‘SEGA Rally Online Arcade’ on LIVE and PSN in 2011. The game has been described as an all new HD racer, inspired by SEGA Rally Revo and SEGA Rally 3.
Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA, had the following to say:
“We’ve blended our hit arcade racing series with the best elements from the console versions to bring our fans the SEGA Rally experience in compact, downloadable format. Whether they’re new to the SEGA Rally series or they’ve participated in countless races over the years, we’re confident everyone will enjoy the wide variety of features included in this fan favourite.”
The game will include Championship Battle mode and Time Attack; an online racing mode that lets players battle it out with up to five drivers around the world; a brand new achievement system; 13 rally cars to choose from, and online leaderboards.

Awesome!

See why couldn’t we have got a whole new Outrun when they did the ‘Online Arcade’ version of that? It was just Outrun 2 SP (with half the loading screens with the old name still). This does sound pretty fun though.

Super! Really looking forward to this. I dread to think how many coins I’ve put into Sega Rally arcade machines.

Wonder what happened to Daytona HD online or something? still Sega Rally is a must for me!

If it’s out before Dirt3 i might check it out, especially if it’s a decent price on PSN. Having said that i much prefer the more realistic handling of CMcRae/Dirt for my rallying kicks.

erm………looks identical to Sega Rally, you know the one already on PS3 & 360 for around 50p now….? The only difference seemingly being no online in the boxed version, and no real single player game in the online one!
