Spyro the Dragon Returns

Activision will be bringing back everyone’s favourite dragon (no, not Bruce Lee) Spyro with a new game titled ‘Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure’. It doesn’t stop there though, as a new line of toys will also be released comprising of 31 different action figures. Augmented reality also plays a part, as during the game you can put an action figure on a plastic ‘portal’, and they will then appear on the TV screen becoming part of the game.

No individual prices have been announced, although a starter kit containing the game, the portal, trading cards, and three figures will sell for $70. Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure will be making its way to consoles, handhelds, computers, and phones.

  1. Love the first one, I’m just about to complete it for the 154,628th time, love it. The follow-ups weren’t so good but still probably going to get it.

  2. I wonder if Activision will layoff staff at Toys For Bob when this suddenly stops selling in 1-3 years time.

The first 3 games worked because Insomniac actually had some love and a creative vision for the universe, this feels like the decline of Sonic, only more painful.

  3. I remember the Spyro games for the orginal Playstation. They were awesome, so I hope that this new iteration doesn’t spoil the memories.

  4. Spyro 1-3 were good, but I fear this’ll be more like the PS2 versions.

  5. spyro has been dead to me for a long time, nobody can ever replicate spyro 1

  6. This sounds sickening, just let him die!
(the original three games were perfect and flawless, their future titles however fail to even come close)

  7. Just had a look over at CVG, they’ve got quite a few screenshots up. And they look awfull, sorry to say. Especially Spyro, it looks like he’s doing drugs and he has also shrinked quite a bit. Poor Spyro… :/

  8. If its like the ps1 games it will be awesome. Although the first one on ps2 wasn’t any good, the one after where u could play as different characters was pretty good Fun I thought. The Legend of Spyro series after was more combat orientated. I preferred the adventure ones personally.

  9. Fond memories of playing Spyro on my PS1. Here’s hoping for more of them!
