Dead Island Teaser is Harrowing (in Reverse)

Remember Dead Island? No? That’s okay – it has been a while after all. From Polish developers Techland, those same crazy coots who gave us Call of Juarez, Dead Island is exactly what it sounds like. An island, full of death. Well, technically, undeath, as – yet again – there’s another zombie game in the works.

It’s an FPS but this time around with an emphasis on hand-to-hand melée combat. Less shotguns to the guts and more deckchairs to the mush, in other words.

What follows is a wonderfully executed CGI-only trailer, and though it doesn’t reflect one iota of how the final game will play, we doff our virtual hats at the accomplished creators of this fine piece of media.

You’ll want to watch this a couple of times before ultimately hitting the bottle pretty hard afterwards, we reckon. At least, that’s what I did. Right this second I can barely see the keyboard from the tears, not to mention the alcohol now racing through my fiery veins. Seriously, don’t watch this if you’re easily freaked out by families getting eaten.

  4. I really enjoyed that trailer. Zombie games rarely have a believable emotional aspect to them. However, this may not represent what’s in the game at all.

  5. Anybody know who the music/artist is unless it was composed for the game.

  6. Wow that was actually an amazing trailer. Had this on my radar for a while can’t wait to see some gameplay

  7. Amazing trailer, harrowing, violent and beautifully editted and soundtracked. How can the end game live up to that?

    • Was looking to see if someone nailed how I felt. Staggeringly beautiful even when gruesome. Jesus, even the film world doesn’t manage such wonderful trailers half the time.

My cap is doffed in the direction of the lads who were behind this. Wow. Bloody wow!!!

  8. i’m a sucker for those bits at the end where they show the people during their happy times before whatever is was that happened to them.
worked in philadelphia and grave of the fireflies, i was in tears at the end of both those.
it’s an old trick for tugging the heartstrings, but bloody hell it’s effective.

absolutely amazing trailer, not just the quality of the cg either, to get you to invest emotionally in these characters over such a short period.
will the game live up to it though?

  9. Been waiting to get home so I can watch this all day, and all I can say is wow. What an amazing trailer, both beautiful and horrific at the same time. Really, very impressed. If they can maintain the same poignant yet frightening atmosphere throughout the game it could well be a work of genius.
