THQ has confirmed that its ultra-destructive FPS ‘Red Faction: Armageddon’ will be hitting the US on May 31st, and the UK on June 3rd. The game takes place on Mars, 50 years after Red Faction: Guerrilla. Unfortunately the surface of the planet has become uninhabitable due to a meteor strike, so people live underground. To add to these woes an evil race of aliens have been unleashed onto the planet.
That’s always the way isn’t it? Stupid aliens, coming down here, taking our jobs, snacking on our faces.

Liked the first two, didn’t like Guerilla… the price was quite low but I could’nt get into it.

I really enjoyed guerilla – the destructive buildings were lots of fun. Repetitive after a while though.

On the first level of the Legendary Red Faction you could dig tunnels because of geo-mod. The underground could be awesome!

interesting to see how ‘ultra-destruction’ will work in an underground setting, im guessing there will be some nice cavernous levels, a bit like the movie Total Recall

I really enjoyed the destruction in Guerilla but with this being a linear (I believe?) experience and taking place underground, I can’t help but feel it’s a step backwards.

You should watch some of the dev videos on their site. The indoor setting opens whole new possibilities of destruction.
