In the latest issue of Famitsu, Shin Sangoku Musou 6 (known to us as Dynasty Warriors 7) received an almost-perfect score of 36 out of 40. For those in the dark, Famitsu assigns four reviewers to individual games, each one scoring it out of ten then combining these marks for a total which is then published. Though there tends to be a little fluctuation between each reviewer, Dynasty Warriors 7 managed to score a streak of 9s, praised for its slew of new mechanics, including cinematic gameplay, weapon-switching, and Chronicle Mode.
Famitsu estimates the game will stack at least 60 hours of playtime, excluding DW7’s online multiplayer functionality. Publisher KOEI have also released new details regarding downloadable content. As well as free costumes from DW4,5, and 6 for each of the returning characters, there are also plans to release alternate attires from Warriors Orochi, with a number of brand-new costumes being planned behind the scenes.
For hardcore fans Dynasty Warriors 7 is supposedly a turning point, hauling the series back to its roots without adding needless gameplay mechanics or cutting down the prolific character roster, yet adding a whole new mode and online integration. UK residents can expect to grab a copy on April 1st, several days after its March 29th State-side release.
