Sony’s James Gallagher has confirmed over on the EU Blog that, once the PlayStation Network is finally back up and running again, whatever you had before will still be there.
Some had thought that their Trophy count would be reset and they’d need to rebuild their friend lists – thankfully, this isn’t the case. “When PSN is restored,” said Gallagher speaking on behalf of SCEE, “friends lists, trophies and wallet funds will all be exactly as they were before.”
This is hardly unexpected – Sony’s security might have meant that your personal details and credit card information was compromised, but the shutdown of the authentication servers meant that nobody could log in or out using that data, so your accounts will be identical once you get back in.
The first class action lawsuit appeared this evening – customers aren’t happy with the massive leak of crucial, personal information and are demanding compensation. Whatever happens, this won’t be easy for Sony.
As we’ve said before – be vigilant. Keep a close watch on your bank account and seriously consider taking out ID Theft protection.
