Mass Effect 3 Delayed

Bioware have announced via their Facebook page that Mass Effect 3 has been delayed until 2012. If you cast your mind back a few months you will recall many of the AAA titles scheduled for Christmas 2010 slipped to early 2011, Mass Effect 3 is the first (and very probably not the last) title to follow the same pattern. The post on Facebook reads:

Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.” – Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mass Effect series.

  1. boo hiss. oh well, january is usually empty after december so yay :)

    • I thought it would be impossible for it to get ME3 this year, even though Bioware area big team, the ME2 PS3 port and new DLC, plus with Dragon Age 2 and DLC for that…. its alot to do.

  2. Do not like.
Still, the start of the year is always quiet, isn’t it? *gulp*

    • Well ME2 came out in January ( I think ) and still got lots of GOTY awards last year…. This isnt as bad news as you might think, I’m hoping as much for polish, this is down to getting the voice actors in, etc so that we can have ALL the squad members back.

For me, this is no surprise, and I always thought this might happen….. and I’m not really disappointed by it, it gives me time to get through the pre-Christmas deluge of games.

  3. had a feeling this was going to happen hope it comes out January.

  4. I know i shouldn’t be happy that ME3 has been delayed but i am,only because that gives me more time to catch up on the games released in the past two years. I hope Bioware does not rush this and will try their best to bring us what is hopefully an excellent ending to a trilogy.

  5. Phew, gives me more time to finally get round to playing the second one…and completing the original :S

  6. No rush ;-)

    • Indeed, want it to be as awesome as possible :D

  7. Actually, this is a good thing! With Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Fifa 12, Batman Arkham City and maybe MW3 (also looking to get Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, Infamous this year), my wallet couldn’t handle such a overload of quality games, so thank you Bioware!

    • Totally agree, i’ve got PS3 HD collections of Prince Of Persia & Tomb Raider to get through too. Apparently, theres a HD Metal Gear Trilogy due out for PS3 too!

  8. No worries. I can’t wait for this but I also want it to be as perfect as it can be.

  9. This is the best thing that could have happened to be honest, best of both worlds ( pardon the pun)

  10. I don’t think too many people are rubbed by delays nowadays. I personally welcome the delay, as I am already anticipating Uncharted 3, Skyrim, and Arkham City (to name a few.) However, if this announcement was made in say, September, a lot of people would be up in arms. Smart move.

    • True, they are giving us plenty of warning. I wonder if the delay is so space battles of some kind could be added?..if only!

      • Space battles or not, Mass Effect 3 will certainly be the biggest ME title to date, so Bioware will likely be making sure that every bit of content is of a consistent quality.

      • I doubt we’ll see space battles. It doesn’t need them. Ain’t broke, don’t fix it. At most maybe we’ll be using one of the ships guns or something, but I still doubt it.

      • Would be awesome though, it would be nice to see what the ship upgrades do outside of a cutscene.
