Next Assassin’s Creed: “Slimline Brotherhood-Style Offering”

The upcoming issue of Xbox 360 World magazine (as reported by CVG) has a section with rumours for E3 and the currently-being-teased Assassin’s Creed: Revelations seems to be mentioned.

“A full-blown threequel is in the works, but the next AC is unlikely to be that. If they want it to hit this side of Christmas, this’ll likely be another slimline Brotherhood-style offering,” said the magazine.

Three short teaser videos have been released and fevered fans have decoded them. The numbers that flash up, 24061459, is the date June 24, 1459 which happens to be Ezio’s birthday so it looks likely the sexy Italian will return rather than Altair.

The video also shows Hagia Sofia, a famous landmark in Istanbul, Turkey, so it is assumed the game will take place in that region.

The game logo (above) does not contain the number 3 so that could be an indication it will be a ‘Brotherhood’ style title and not the threequel. Are you ready for another Brotherhood game before Christmas or would you prefer to wait Assassin’s Creed 3?

Game Informer are to officially unveil the title next week, so not long to wait.

  1. Well I don’t see the need of rushing the game into 2011. Its just going to become another Tony Hawk if Ubisoft carry on with this.

  2. Actually, it looks more probable this game will feature Altair than Ezio. Altair’s date of birth is also in the teaser, in addition to pictures of someone that’s looking strikingly similar to Altair…
I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a new protagonist either, there’s lots of possibilities here. Exciting.

    • So both altair and ezio are referenced in the videos, a crossover is looking extremely likely in my eyes.

      • That would indeed be cool… I guess only time will tell.

    • I was thinking maybe Ezio’s father would be involved somehow with Ezio’s birth being mentioned. But now I’m thinking this could be more of a game to bridge the ancestral gap between Altaiir and Ezio.

  3. i guess we know where ubisoft stand on the quality vs quantity argument.

you could argue for the validity of annual updates for sports games, though i would say a roster update does not warrant a new game each year.
but for a story driven game like this, it’s a mistake.

either they make thing far too complicated and end up leaving large plot threads dangling because they were never part of the original plan for the series, assuming there is one.
or they just go completely ridiculous.

i can see this going the way of lost to be honest.

anybody remember when everything on lost was going to have a scientific explanation? or any kind of explanation for that matter.

remember when walt was all important for some reason?
    then suddenly he wasn’t.

and i’ve only talked about how this annual schedule ubisoft seem determined to pursue will affect the story, it could have a worse affect on the gameplay.

you can’t get any true innovation in the gameplay with an annual schedule like this.
just look at all the other annual release series.

and to prove my point, look at the improvements between the first game and it’s sequel, then compare 2 and brotherhood.
    it does not inspire confidence.

  4. I love all the Assassin’s Creed games. The mystery behind it is spectacular like getting to the end of a series of some unnamed mystery TV series. I really wish AC:B had better matchmaking so I could get to LVL 50 though. However I will try my best over the summer so I will be ready for what this next version brings. I still don’t understand AC:II with the woman in the tower from Altair’s years. And [semi-spoiler] why Desmond did something naughty at the end of AC:B. PM me if you are itching to tell me XD
