PC World And Currys Launch Game Service

UK electronics powerhouses PC World and Currys have extended their partnership into the realm of downloadable video games. Their new service, powered by ZTORM, features over 600 titles both new and old, from Golden Axe to Witcher 2, all at competitive prices. First impressions? There’s a tidy layout and definitely a nice range of games to choose from though the site could benefit from improved search bar functionality.

The first 10,000 gamers to sign up to the new service will get to choose from two SEGA introductory packages, both offering 4 full titles.

SEGA Pack 01

  • Medieval II: Total War Gold Edition
  • Condemned: Criminal Origins
  • The Club
  • Alpha Protocol

SEGA Pack 02

  • Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • SEGA MegaDrive Collection 1
  • Sonic the Hedgehog

The offer is still ongoing, and with 45 quid’s worth of gaming available for nowt, you should probably set aside five minutes to register.

  1. Just signed up, just need to clear some space for the quite large files though.

  2. ok, what the hell?
it finally let me select the adult pack and now norton’s saying the download for alpha protocal is a threat and keeps deleting it.

    • ok, now it says it can’t find any information on it and hasn’t deleted it.
      and i’m installing it.

  3. Its ok I would obvisously use Steam to buy more but its nice how I can choose the download/install location. 320GB HDD is like spilt into two Drives… which is very awkward but good that nobodys using it haha…

    • that’s a feature steam could do with, an option to choose the location where games will be downloaded and installed to.

      • Yes, I hope its possible… :D

  4. It won’t let me download the first pack even though i am of age…

    • Check out the 192 website they use. Type your name in there and find out which is the last address it has you registered for then use that in your account. Your age will be verified now :) If the address it had you in is old then wait till you have obtained and downloaded your games before changing it to your current address

  5. Sweet, thanks for letting us know about this. Personally I prefer gaming on my PS3, but having a shed load of sonic on my laptop isn’t a bad thing =P

  6. Let’s face it, it’s never going to be anywhere as near as good as Steam.

    • No probably not. Like other sites, it will get followers through sales and pre-order offers, but it just doesn’t have the toolset to compete with Steam.

  7. i think i have to get one of those prepaid credit cards one day, probably not for pc world, but i could actually see me buying stuff off steam

  8. Having worked for currys, I can’t say I’m surprised that The Norton 360 I bought from PC World has blocked my download!

  9. “The website is available to you only in the United Kingdom.” but the member registration has a dropdown for you to choose country. Silly.

  10. It needs a download manager, I don’t think I’ll bother with it, at least EA have one, a really good one.
