Heroclix Online Announced, Beta Available

Wizkids has today announced that its popular superhero strategy game, HeroClix, will finally be making the transition from tabletop to online gaming. For the uninitiated, HeroClix is a turn-based miniature strategy game, featuring all of your favourite Marvel heroes and villains. Developed by Icarus Studios, players will finally be able to duke it out over the internet instead of visiting their local hobby centre; ideal, especially for those outside North America where the game is lesser well-known.

HeroClix Online will feature full sets of miniatures and a variety of maps, with more due to release in upcoming expansions. Though DC HeroClix have also been in circulation, Wizkids have yet to announce if Superman, The Joker, and pals will be made available in future.

If you want in on the action, you can sign up for the paid beta to get instant access. This will set you back 2 bucks (which can also be paid using Paypal) though Wizkids stress that it will give you a head start when the full game launches, all of the rewards you unlock during the beta period being immediately available to you.

As someone who collected HeroClix in my younger days, though rarely had the chance to play, HeroClix Online seems like an extremely cost-effective, hassle-free method of getting back into the hobby.

but the code it gives you there doesn’t work.
even copying by hand and copying and pasting didn’t work.

i’ve posted a comment on their forums, let’s see if i get a response.

  2. I had that error as well, you have to pay $2 for the beta now, but I just signed up and bought my way in and it looks like it worked.

  3. Would be good for the PSN and others
