It’s the news RPG-loving trophy whores were dreading. A staff member over at the Bethesda blog has recently confirmed that the upcoming 5-year anniversary edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will not be receiving trophy support, despite high demand from fans:
User: Any release for PS3? Trophies and everything?
Staff: PC, PS3, and 360. Sorry, no trophies.
Oblivion isn’t the only re-release launching this summer that isn’t trophy compatible. Resistance: Fall of Man, the first half of the Resistance double pack, won’t be updated either. Insomniac has explained that reworking trophies into the experience would mean “re-opening” the project, something which they are unlikely to have the time or resources for with Resistance 3, Overstrike, and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One in the pipeline.

The trophies don’t matter to me, at least in this case. Not a huge fan of this particular genre – give me the gun combat of Fallout 3 any day – i just can’t get into the sword-combat. Lovely environments though and it was a pleasure to just wander and look around, for a bit. :)

Seriously people you may need to rethink your lives if you choose not to play the game because there are no trophies, how about playing it because it’s a great game.

However with no trophy implementation, the game is pretty much the same as the GOTY version that you can pick up for £15. It was the main thing that people were looking forward to from the re-release.
I played the game to death on 360. Got 1250/1250 over the course of nearly 2 years :) I would have gladly played it again on the PS3 too, but with no trophies I may as well just fire up the 360 again, as it works out cheaper lol

What about all those people that have played it, but would re-play it for the trophies? I’m disappointed by your comment Moshi, rather self centered. You have to appreciate in this life different people like different things. There are millions of people who would tell you that you need to re-evaluate your life for wasting time playing games and spending so much time reading and writing about them on the internet.

Bit harsh Moshi. I agree with you about the not choosing to get a game due to lack of trophies is a bit of a poor reason to not get a game, but telling people to rethink their lives is a bit over the top. It’s their choice. I personally don’t care if TES4 gets trophies or not as it is a very huge game. Some people like to collect trophies,some don’t. Simples. Afterall it is a game.:o)

To be honest, i don’t really care if TES:Oblivion gets a trophy patch or not as it has so much to do. Surely having a game with a load of replayability is more important then one with trophies. Plus the TES team are busy with Skyrim so i would imagine that they can’t afford to waste any unesseccary time on a previous title. I can’t believe that people won’t/have not brought TES:Oblivion just because of the lack of trophies.
