Remember this harrowing Dead Island trailer? Bursting onto the scene in February, the trailer became an instant talking point and certainly brought the game to our attention.
Well now it has won the Gold prize for Internet Film at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to have a cry…

That and the FFXIII trailer – I don’t like Leona Lewis but the trailer with her music was epic, and probably better than the game was, sadly

That FFXIII trailer is ridiculously well-rendered. I get all tingly looking at… SAZH!? ;)

I loved that trailer and it was all over the newspapers when it was launched even Simon Pegg said “f****** Awesome” and other stars had positive respond to the trailer.

It is indeed a great trailer and thoroughly deserves to win awards. I highly doubt the game will end up being much good, but the trailer was definitely emotionally moving.

Sorry to join in the praise-singing but I really don’t like this kind of advertising for a game. In truth it’s exactly the same as those “representative of game footage” tags that so many tv ads seem to carry these days. Halo Reach and Fable 3 did the same dirty trick. When a game is released I am going to be playing it for (hopefully) 9 or 10 hours so I want to see the game not the concept or the feel of it as some concept artist might say.

*might not feature actual praise-singing
