Burnout Crash! Features Spandau Ballet?

Criterion Games have uploaded a picture from the EA Summer Showcase which shows ‘some of the many influences that inspired the game’ and ‘some of the musical acts which are also in the game’.

A quick glance reveals Vanilla Ice, Spandau Ballet and… Sir Bruce Forsyth.  A poster for the song ‘Crash’ by The Primitives is also present and you can spot a picture of Richard Whitely and Carol Vorderman.

A cover of 80’s pop magazine ‘Look-In’ is pinned to the wall but I cannot make out who is on the cover, however I am pretty sure that on the very far right (next to the T-shirt with an exclamation mark) the black and white picture is of Wincy Willis.

If you are aged 30 or under this post will not make sense to you. If you are older than 30 then you may recognise some of these people, but still be very confused, I know I am.

In other Crash! related news, apparently the game was previously a Wii title and the developers managed to get the game up and running, using XNA, in just four weeks.

  1. Heh, I’m guessing the Spandau Ballet poster was a reference to one of their old Crash TV episodes. Loved that podcast.

  2. 24 and yeh, confused.

  3. Hopefully Vanilla Ice will be ‘rollin in his 5.0, with his ragtop down so his hair can blow’

So i can take his F***ing head off with 720′ piroette barrel roll :)

Also, is that Wee Jimmie Crankie bottom left? :)

    • The really sad thing here is that not only do you seem to know all the lyrics to ice ice baby, so do i! That’s just terrible!

      • Yup :(

Was singing it on Singstar Saturday night/Sunday morning. My downstairs neighbour is my new best friend :)

      • I can do the rap from any 1990s dance hit off by heart. “We’ve got to take a stand, now that were in demand”

      • Ah – Can’t beat a bit of 90’s cheese!

Technotronic, C&C Music factory, Snap…It’s all good!!

      • Lol. Got me on that one, King Bee ‘Back be dope demand’? *guess*

  4. They should have just stuck a micro machines poster on the wall and been done with it.

  5. Thought I heard “Gold” in the trailer

  6. ’80s music, ’80s graphics, ’80s gameplay… figures.

  7. 19 and I understood it. I’m proud :)

  8. ha ha, excellent.

  9. The game seems more suited to Spandau’s “To cut a long story short” phase..

    • Or perhaps “Through the Barricades” and “Crashed into Love”.

      • So true, funny how it seems.. ;)

  10. Now I’m suddenly interested.
