Last week saw the announcement of Borderlands 2, as well as the frankly bizarre story of Randy Pitchford that came along with the announcement and its leak. Whilst Pitchford’s comments did seem odd to many, they did ensure that Borderlands 2 was the dominant story of last week. With that said it only seems fair that we take a look at Borderlands for this week’s WeView.
That’s right, we’re dipping all the way back to 2009 this week and visiting Pandora. Time to talk about sniper rifles that fire electricity and the wonderful world of cel-shaded graphics. We were pretty happy with the game when we reviewed it way back when, giving it an 8/10. Of course, it’s not all about the score, so let’s look back at what we had to say:
So, Borderlands is a very fun and addictive game that offers plenty of gameplay and if “looting” and statistics is your thing then there are plenty on offer. I strongly recommend you play it with a mate or three and enjoy the experience together, as this offers a harder challenge and gives you someone to trade with. It feels like a shooter but there is no escaping the fact that it is essentially probability, maths and chance controlling the end results when pulling the trigger. The wow moments will come with the over-the-top gore but don’t expect system breaking visuals. However, do expect a unique style and a long adventure that will better cater for those that like to “grind” through a game.
Sounds good, right? Or maybe you think that sounds like the worst possible game you could endure? Why not let us know? Just head over to the forums and leave us your thoughts on the game. Whilst I’m not going to discount longer reviews, please remember that the aim is for short, snappy opinions. More than that I simply don’t have the time to wade through longer reviews, so if you want to have your opinion included in the verdict post try to keep it short.
Once you’ve written your review make sure you give it a score on the Buy It, Bargain Bin It, Rent It, Avoid It scale. Remember, if you want your score and opinion included in Monday’s verdict post you need to have it done by Sunday afternoon, otherwise I’ll have written it and you’ll be left out in the cold.

Just about to start this I think. Had it on my shelf for a while.

Same….although I only got it recently (£12.98 brand new from Game, with all the DLC)!
Am probably gonna play the whole thing through co-op with a friend seeing as I have plenty of single player games to finish!
Smallville2106
Yeah I got it for under £15 GOTY edition. Great value.

Played this through for the first time about 3 months ago. Annoying the DLC is so fooking expensive when it’s all on the GOTY edition. Now I’ve got the hassle of trading in my copy, so I can buy the GOTY edition. So annoying when that happens. Had to do it with Fallout 3 and was considering it with a few other games as well. They really gotta sort out digital pricing.

I was happy to pay full price for all the DLC

Well done. I’m not, considering it will cost so much more than just buying the GOTY edition.

Borderlands rocks. That’s all I have to say.

The only thing that annoyed me about Borderlands was the god awful voice chat in co-op.
