Borderlands 2 Confirmed, New Website

As we said yesterday based on Eurogamer’s rumour (which was apparently ‘shoddy journalism‘ according to Randy Pitchford), Borderlands 2 is a real thing, and now it’s official.

[drop2]A new website has opened – borderlands2.com – which is little more than an advert for Game Informer just now but will hopefully be padded out for those of us unable to purchase the US-based magazine.

“2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that the sequel to the extravasplosive breakout hit, Borderlands, is currently in development at world-renowned developer Gearbox Software,” says the press release, which confirms PC, Ps3 and Xbox 360 versions.

“Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story,” it continues. “Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.”

The game’s due after April 1, 2012, but will be at Gamescom later this month.

  1. YEEEESSSS, brilliant news, roll on 17th August.

  2. My problem with the original was that there were too many guns and no customisation of them. That, and the playing it alone was achingly dull. Still, the little robot dude was funny.

    • His name is Claptrap ;)

    • Too many guns, that was half the fun of it and raiding knoxxs armour over and over again hoping to find that perfect weapon. Customisation would have led to everyone having the same generic set up online .

    • I had problems with it too. There were too many guns so they all ended up being just the same guns over and over again the story was a bit boring and it wasn’t that much fun exploring around the world. I think it was more meant to be played as a MP game rather than as a SP game. Can’t say if i’ll be getting the 2nd one if it’s like the first then i highly doubt i will

  3. Interesting that they’re staying in Pandora. Would have thought they’d create a whole new universe. I guess as long as Scooter’s back, I’m happy.

    • Come, check out my riiiiiiiides! :D

  4. More shooting, less driving that blumming horrible buggy and I’ll be happy.

  5. More borderlands 2 please.

  6. SWEET.

  7. Sort out the driving and i may be tempted.

    • The driving was easy once you got used to it . I never had a problem after the initial jump you have to do. Am I the only one who Didnt have a problem.

      • Nope. I had no problem here either. I would even go so far as to say that once used to the control method it was probably one of the better example of driving mechanics.

      • Same for me. After I got used to it, the driving was quite ok.

      • The part that really frustrated me was the bits that forced you into vehicle combat (the arena bit especially). Absolutely hated that section, but loved the rest of it

  8. Less skags. Enough with the skags!!

  9. Brilliant news! I just hope that if there is an end-game boss than it’s better than the first one, because that was a disappointment.

    • I played most of the game with a house mate at the time and the end-game boss was definitely the most disappointing part of the game. An easy but long fight.

  10. Whoo! would love to have a more wacky weapons ^^
