According to Cowen researchers, Bioware’s upcoming Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, is expected to hit the 3 million mark after its first year on the market. This conclusion is said to have come from numerous pre-order statistics which show there is even more excitement for SWTOR than last year’s heavy hitters, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
Those wanting to get a taste of The Old Republic prior to its launch later this year will be able to in next month’s beta.

*Watches the fantastic CGI trailers again and then remembers the game is an MMO…sigh*.
If it works out for them, great, I’m happy for it to work out and sell very well. I just despair at how time consuming MMO games are and how the trailers come out a hundred time better quality than the gameplay that will come from this. Brilliant storyline and trailers behind it, but the game itself looks really disappointing.

I sadly agree. The game just doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the cutscenes. Why couldn’t they just make a proper KOTOR 3? WHY?!

Well to be honest I don’t think your the target audience. MMO gamers are a very different breed.

I am not a fan for MMOs mainly due to how time consuming they can be and that i’m a single player gamer mainly. So i won’t be getting this. The CGI trailers are good. I think Bioware may be able to shift a few millions copies provided a WOW expansion doesn’t come out on the same day as this. Why couldn’t they just make Knights of the old republic 3 or remake 1 and two(two i think they would have to get the rights off Obisdian and i have heard it was a disappointment).

I too wish this wasn’t an MMO, really the only way they could keep me away…
I guess I still have a few trophies to get in ME2 which will help me wait for ME3.
