Shoddy journalism* prevails as developers DONTNOD have finally got round to announcing Adrift with a ‘concept’ trailer.
After three years work I was expecting something more than that, but at least we know it exists and it’s a ‘third person action-adventure’.
The DONTNOD website has a nice big graphic that shows SCE as a partner but are listing the game for both PS3 and Xbox 360, I’m guessing a timed exclusive may be in the pipeline.
A website for the game has also gone live and has the following description:
Neo-Paris 2084
Augmented reality and memory manipulation have taken control of peoples’ lives.
You can now digitize, buy, sell or trade your own personal memories. The last remainders of intimacy have been swept away, in what appears to be a simple extension of the development of social networks and geolocation at the beginning of the 21st century. The “surveillance society” has been accepted by the citizens themselves, in exchange for a few technological benefits. It is a reality that no one even thinks of challenging anymore.
This memory-based economy gives an immense yet uncontrollable power to a handful of people…
Adrift will be docking in Autumn 2012.

* I may get bored of this joke, but not quite yet.

An interesting concept, I hope it’s all to do with these memories rather than ooh I must destroy these memory storing businesses with my guns or brain control.

Sounds interesting, i must remember to keep an eye on it..

It does look nice, but I agree with you 100%. It’s like the Dead Island trailer – it’s a pr tool, nothing more… and that gives me an idea.
colmshan1990
That Dead Island trailer was well worth it though.

Lol @ ‘tiny hand people’.
I can imagine the audition process now… If you can make this pea look like a bowling ball, you are in!!

Boo to ‘Not in-game footage’. Will have to wait for a better video to surface so I can decide if I’m going to be craving this title.
Foxhound_Solid
agreed, looks interesting though…

The best CG trailer I have seen that shows exactly what you can do in game is Prey 2.
Bladesteel
Booo at timed exclusive. They suck even when it’s my preferred console that get them.
yogdog
Yep, with you here dude.
Smallville2106
I don’t see the point of timed exclusives. Full exclusives are fine and great but timed exclusives just seem a waste of time.
Smallville2106
I have to agree. They look good but mean nothing.

Looking at the concept video just made me long for a decent Bladerunner game :-)
I wonder if Ridley Scott is happy they’ve ripped off his visuals?
