So we’ve seen some screens of the new PSP, as well as discussed who it is actually aimed at. I guess the last thing to do is confirm all is well under the bonnet. And new firmware sans Store, My Account etc.
hazelam
that’s a point actually.
i assume you’d need a pc or ps3.
except you can’t get new psp firmware on ps3 as far as i know.
as for having your account on the this psp, the psp only really needs your account for the store or for downloaded games, and the psp will be authorised for the account when ou install games from pc with media go or through the ps3.
the games never actually use the account do they?
and no wifi would mean you couldn’t really use the store on this psp.
hazelam
oh and i forgot to add, there are also firmware updates on game discs, so if a game needs a certain firmware you’ll be able to install it from the game.
hazelam
so now it has one less speaker and no wifi, and it’s heavier?
that touch panel bit at the bottom with the start, select and other controls must be heavier or something.

The weight gain is probably may be down to using older components that are bigger than the latest versions.
cam the man
*gain may be down to

How much RAM has is got? Anything near the 250GB that the Vita has? :)
Otherwise doesn’t seem revolutionary.
hazelam
it’ll have the same as every other psp.
it’s not a revolutionary machine, it’s more of a budget machine.

Wonder if any confused relatives will buy this at xmas as its the “new” psp expecting it to be the vita?
iucidium
Bingo.

Removing the stereo sound seems a bit much but i guess it’ll shave a few cents off the manufacturing cost.
colmshan1990
The only games it ever made a jot of difference to were Silent Hill and Rock Band, so no big loss.
I’m very confused as to the weight gain though.

Don’t think this will really take-off.
