Warner Bros. has announced that the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be available worldwide on August 31st. The Kollection includes the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for $9.99/800 Microsoft points.
All three games in the trilogy are arcade perfect ports and feature online multiplayer, leaderboards, and achievements/trophies.

I do not care how “Arcade Perfect” this game is. At all of my events we still will use MAME. Why you ask? Like I have said before this game was intended to be played at mk1 speed and we will continue to do so at all events. I have tried to be professional with Boon and staff, however the bafoons have never listened to me 1 time in the last 10 years. I am the whole reason the community even exists, and I get no credit. Yup, supporting my pal Matt on this one. While NRS has done much for the community in the past year, it doesn’t matter how “Arcade-Perfect” they’re claiming the Kollection will be. UMK3, MK2, and MKT for the first time ever at the next NEC, will all be played on MAME. We recognized from the get go that even MK2 speed is just too fast. We must slow it down because let’s face it, most of us are in our mid to late 30’s now, our sped is gone. Besides, just because the game is more faster doesn’t necessarily make it more competitive. MK1 speed is the most competitive we can get it when it comes to tournaments. We are hard at work with Bullgarien programmers to slow all 3 games down through MAME.
Sorry NRS, but the only exposure the Kollection is going to get is through xbox live and PSN. Good luck with that, as you’ll need it with the netcode you guys use for your games. Come NEC, MK2-MKT will officially become the leading games at tournaments, we took a poll and this is what the staff at TYM, ClassicMK, and UltimateMK want. It’s for the better and for the people complaining, don’t fucking show up if you don’t like it. These are the necessary steps we must take to keep the game alive. Myself, Matt, Nit, Rob, and many more staff members are sick of missing combos and aaHPs because the game is just too god damn fast. The game needs to stay competitive and yeah, maybe we’ll use the Kollection to run MK1 tournaments, but that’s it. Don’t get your hopes up though, the last time we ran a MK1 tournament, the only 5 people who competeted in it were myself, Matt, Phil, Nit, Rob, AC, Bluenine, Joe, Mach, DjEric, Crazy, Storms, Chris, Reo, NoDoubt, and 5 others I can’t think of. Wasn’t a great outcome, so NRS is pretty much wasting their time when we’ll probably more than unlikely not be using it to play MK1.
MAME is where it’s at and if you guys don’t like it then to bad. The Godfather is the reason why we’re even having this discussion, you should just respect his decisions and keep your F’ing mouths shut.

Going by the above article, i’d say that was what they were actually aiming at to be honest. This is surely about getting the 3 games out to your standard consumer via a digital media (at a decent price) unless i am completely mistaken?
Besides which, if you are running contests/tournaments, isn’t it up to you which ‘version’ of the game you use, or how fast or slow it is? As long as the particpants know ahead of time, i personally don’t see the issue.
But that may be my problem – Who knows?

No, I can’t say I do agree. It has nothing to do with suiting the old-guard Mike. It’s the fact NRS keeps catering the “casuals” that’s got us really set off. I tried calling WB back in November around the time the HD Kollection rumor was spiraling out of control. I had left my parent’s home with my kids there and traveled through the Mid-west and East Coast. Myself and select few had left everything behind so we could help NRS develop the game. They didn’t answer any of our calls and by the time end of the week we ended up in Minnesota, stranded.
We take this franchise very seriously and we’ve done everything we can to keep it alive, however NRS keeps sh*tting on us and guess what happened? The HD Kollection failed and NRS was forced to release “Arcade-Perfect” ports again, this must be what? Their 100th time now?
Look, we sent them in so many emails with suggestions, slowing down the game. Introducing Defense-Jab Breakers (essentially combo breakers for pussy punch-blocking faggots) and all sorts of great ideas that they just ignored and eventually blocked communications from us.
We’re sick of it and we’ve had it, so we just took it upon areselves to just contact a few associates from Bullgeria to help program the game reduce the speed. We must do it and yes, we will be writing a guide for the people concerned.

That’s okay, Tim. I admire your passion. However, having you on here saying “you should just respect his decisions and keep your F’ing mouths shut” simply won’t wash. We enjoy everyone’s opinion whether it’s in agreeance or the total opposite of you, me, whomever. It truly doesn’t matter. Whether you prefer mouse & keyboard over a controller. A HD remake of Ico and SOTC over the original or a particular MK title. You have to allow for other people’s opinions or you’ll run out of places to post simply because members won’t want you around any more (or you end up getting banned).
Once again, keep the passion coming but be open to others’ opinions and respect them in the same way you want them to respect you.
