I apologise for this week’s episode in advance. Kris said some things about Star Wars that were wrong and inconsiderate and shouldn’t have been allowed to go unchecked. After I ranted for entirely too long about what a disgrace the changes to the Star Wars trilogy are, we talked about Kris’ visit to see Need for Speed: The Run. Then Lewis did his audio competition (join in by emailing lewisgaston[at]screendemon.com with your answer) and talked about the Inbetweeners movie.
I talked a bit more about Deus Ex before Kris’s comics competition (emails to podcasts[at]thesixthaxis.com for that one) and then we discussed the reboot of Justice League which kicked off the 52 first issues DC is (re)launching in September (and the last week of August…)
Finally, Kris spoke a bit about The Guard, a movie set in the west of Ireland featuring drug dealers and an FBI agent. It sounds brilliant.
We had the usual quiz before emails led us into another wrestling discussion (especially for Colin) and some confused reading of forum questions.

Less wrestling, I can’t believe how long you lot waffle on about something that is the equivalent of Hollyoaks with the occasional bodyslam. It’s gayer than Glee, and it mean that in the homo way.
I do find it amazing that straight men love football and wrestling when both are full of ponces noncing about with more hair product than the entire cast of Sex & the City.

I agree with Peter on Lucas effing Star wars. No, Darth Vader should not turn to the emperor and say “noooo” before chucking him. I understand Vader using the cheesy no in episode 3 as he had lost everything. Also i didn’t know the Yoda in Episode 1 wasn’t CGI. :o
It p*sses me off that if i were to get Star Wars on blu ray that i would be forced to get the crappy version. STOP WHORING OUT STAR WARS LUCAS! Just leave the effing films alone Lucas. At least allow some decent game developers to develop some excellent star wars games. I think a child dies everytime he tweaks it. or is it a kitten or puppy?

Best Blu-Ray release for me with regards old sci-fi flicks has been Close Encounters,looked great and let you choose which version you watched,i ended up watching all 3 which you’d have hoped was a win/win for all concerned.
Lucas has chosen time and again to try and make peoples minds up for them,why insist on purposefully not putting them back to back on blu-ray,i can only put this down to ego on his part.
His ewok decisions,alien rastas,english speaking robots all seem to come from the goofy American prime time sense of humor which is as tragic as one of Gordon Browns smiles.
With regards Blade Runner i do think it’s unfair to Scott to compare it to Androids,i read androids before watching Blade Runner for the first time and left still not knowing it was loosely based on the short story,i think it was only when it got a Vhs release that i was made aware,it’s kind’ve like saying the Running Man isn’t as good as kings short.
Anyways first time i listened to the podcast guys,good fun and managed to peak my nerd rage.

I thought the Star Wars discussion was pretty interesting. I grew up with Star Wars, I think I even went to see the return of the Jedi at the Cinema when it was first released with my Uncle.
As a kid I loved the films probably at much as Peter does now, (We collected the figures, waited for it to be TV every Christmas etc.) Now though (appart from The Empire Strikes Back) I find them pretty unwatchable. Other friends I have though still really love them and would probably agree with Peter on many points.
I have a theory about why the magic wore off for me; I watched Star Wars a lot until I was about 10 or 11, then due to lack of video player etc, I did not watch them again until I was about 22/23 at uni. The long break from them, made me see that with a critical adult eye the films were not that great and I have never had the urge to see them again (I am 34 now). My Friends however never lost the contact with the films (Always watched them at least once a year) so for them the magic was not broken.

Finally got as far as the questions at the end of the podcast. I’d forgotten about offering to hump Dan Lee, on reflection I’m not sure I’d really thought that one through, I hear he’s quite a large chap, and I bruise easily.
