Sony: PSN ‘More Secure’ Than Ever

Sony CEO, Howard Stringer, has made a short speech at the IFA Electronics Show in Berlin. Making reference to the Japanese earthquake, PSN hack and London riots, Stringer said  “Sony have been flooded, we’ve been flattened, we’ve been hacked, we’ve been singed [but] the summer of our discontent is behind us.”

Regarding the PSN Hack, Stringer continued,

I’m pleased to tell you that the PSN is more secure and better than ever. We are aggressively expanding its content. We have more than 3 million new customers since the network came back online, and sales are exceeding what we had before the cyber attacks.

Stringer also highlighted Sony’s “holistic” approach which brings together music, film, gaming and hardware and backed he Android operating system in the battle against Apple.

  1. As above, it is a rather daft thing to say. The little pig that build his house of wood was more secure than the straw one.

  2. I bet a great deal of those sales have been due to the price cut, not any perceived value added from the psn. Anyways, 3 million is a very nice figure, as cc star says above it will be interesting to see what Sony’s quarterly is like.

  3. Must be the £199 deal you cannot resist it or the upcoming of MW3 (PSN is free XBL isn’t) and the game is fecking like 70quid!!!

  4. well I got it signed up for it got an email but none of the stuff through the post they guy said I would get. Best bit about that realising how silly my username sounds when telling it to someone over the phone :oS suppose mine wasn’t so bad feel bad for all the mr_bigballs type usernames bet it was hillerious when they signed up can imagine they person on the other end of the phone doing there absoloute best to remain professional while typing those usernames in :)

  5. I got the e-mail offer, but I couldn’t be bothered signing up for it.

  6. Saying it’s “more secure than ever” is as good as Cameron ‘Declaring War’ gangs. Relighting a fire that needn’t be sparked.

  7. Couldn’t he wait a bit to say that? Only because ‘MW3’ will be out soon & all the hackers will be playing that on their Xbox 360’s & they will not have the time to hack SONY. . .LoL

  8. Surely the best security is the security that’s hidden?
And not talked about at every opportunity, and built into something impossible to beat?
If the PSN was a boat, it’d be unsinkable.
    I dub it Titanic.

  9. “More secure than ever”. Still not ever going to be putting in my credit card details again Sony, I don’t think you’ll ever win back my trust.

  10. You’re right, that is a short speech.. lol. Didn’t have much to say other than it’s a bit safer and look how much of a bad time we’ve had, then PR ramble. GREAT.
