People often pester me when I’m writing these WeViews to pick a game that’s topical or relevant. Well this week I’m at least sort of trying. See tomorrow night I’m off to “That London” (or The Big Smoke) to attend the Eurogamer Expo, and one of the games I’m exceptionally excited about playing is Batman: Arkham City. Arkham Asylum was an absolute stand out game for me, and still easily sits atop the superhero genre; how could I not be excited about playing the sequel? Of course we can’t really talk about the follow up just yet, so lets stick to the original.
I absolutely loved the game myself, and Peter was pretty keen about it as well. He scored it at 9/10 in our review and had this to say about it:
All in all Batman: Arkham Asylum is a fantastic video game, worthy of all the praise it receives. Although there are a couple of minor flaws in its execution (lack of sound-awareness in the poor AI and a relatively cheap final boss stand out) there really isn’t a lot that you could fault with this game. It is certainly one of the best releases this year. Whilst there is still a long way to go and a great deal of titles still to come, Batman: Arkham Asylum will, we feel, ultimately be considered amongst the best video games of this generation.
I’d have to agree with the flaws he found, in particular the final boss. Given how interesting the other boss fights were, and how freakishly hard I found Poison Ivy, Joker just felt so utterly trivial. However, my thoughts on its successes and failings aren’t what’s important here, it’s what you think that matters.
If you feel like taking part and sharing your thoughts just head over to the forums and leave us your thoughts on the game. Whilst I’m not going to discount longer reviews, please remember that the aim is for short, snappy opinions. More than that I simply don’t have the time to wade through longer reviews, so if you want to have your opinion included in the verdict post try to keep it short.
Once you’ve written your review make sure you give it a score on the Buy It, Bargain Bin It, Rent It, Avoid It scale. Remember, if you want your score and opinion included in Monday’s verdict post you need to have it done by Sunday afternoon, otherwise I’ll have written it and you’ll be left out in the cold.

YES! I really dislike B:AA so expect some split opinion. don’t bother asking why now, just read my mini review when i post it.

I can’t really comment on the full game but thought the demo was pretty boring, whereas lots of people like it. Maybe it doesn’t help that I’m not really a Super Hero, Comic/Marvel etc fan.
Origami Killer
I just found it too short, too small (the free roam), too repetitive and too easy.

I felt the same. I don’t think it’s a bad game or anything but after finally playing it it felt very overhyped.

Great graphics, enjoyable game with plenty to do, right length as would get boring after. Quite easy, but challenges unlocked which present more of a challenge. Plus, it’s Batman, so what’s not to like?

God-dammit! You’re supposed to write your review in the forums Jimmy!
:-P

played it thrice!

Might do this later, the combat system is just fantastic.

I spent a long time on this game to get the platinum trophy, and loved every minute. The combat challenges were very hard, but not impossible, unlike many games that have online based trophies, relying on other players. Cannot wait for the sequel!
OriginalJonty (Aran Suddi)
Definitely one of the best games of this generation and cannot wait for Arkham City.

A chore of a game.
