I know a lot of racing game fans swear by using a steering wheel over a control pad. With the release of Forza 4 on the horizon, Fanatec has teamed up with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios to bring you an officially licensed wheel. The top of the range product, the Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel, will set you back 250 Euros and has the following features:
- Multiplatform: Xbox 360 / PC / PlayStation® 3
- Wireless connection to Xbox360 and USB cable to connect to PC and PS3
- Compatible with standard pedals (with clutch), Clubsport, CSR Elite and CSR pedals. With an optional [drop2] adapter, you can even use the Logitech® G25 / G27 pedals
- 3 Force Feedback motors and smooth belt drive deliver sensational realism
- Large aluminum paddle shifters
- Authentic motorsport inspired design with premium aluminum wheel and Alcantara grip
- Officially licensed by Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios for use with Forza Motorsport
- Tuning functions with LED display that allows players to adjust the turning angle (90° to 900° of steering rotation), force feedback, vibration, sensitivity, with the ability to save up to five presets. ABS vibration in the wheel and on the (optional) Clubsport pedals for all games
- Adjustable Deadzone, Linearity, Spring and Damper settings to fine tune your force feedback
- Five ‘Drift mode’ adjustments to allow quicker turning ratio
- Force Feedback is handled by a Powerful Mabuchi RS550 Motor that’s used in RC cars
- Additional 2 Force Feedback actuators in the wheel simulates motor vibrations
- Extra smooth and silent belt drive with minimized mechanical dead zone
- High resolution wheel sensor
- Strong table clamps with a quick release keeps everything in place. Integrated screw inserts allows a fixed or hard mounting solution on a gaming cockpit
- Fully compatible with the RennSport Wheel Stand which is available as an option
Weirdly it doesn’t come with any pedals, and they must be bought separately.

i like the silent belt driven idea… my logitech GT5 wheel puts up quite a racket at times…
jcor
I have a Logitech Driving Force GT & it makes a huge racket alright. Might not be as good as a G25 or G27 but still a great wheel in my opinion.
Jaffa-the-Cake
Driving Force GT is the best imo. Works perfectly with GT5 and its dirt cheap now.
david24
The idea of the belt drive is to give smoother force feedback, it still makes a noise. I’ve tried a fanatec gt2 (basically the same wheel) and did’t notice much diffrence to my gear driven g27
Awayze
Nothing beats the Logitech G27.
I have a G25 and it’s by far the best wheel, was worth the £250 when I got it.
iiekka
if they let me use my g25 on the 360 i wouldnt of sold it and would be buying forza 4 but nope
enroene
looks like a good wheel.Haven’t ever used a wheel before but i would like to try one out.

The difference between the Fanatec GT2 and the DFGT is huge – try both and see which is best. (Just don’t look at the price tags!)
Not keen on the design of the wheel personally, not sure I’d want the Forza 4 logo staring me in the face when playing on a PS3…
david24
there’s a very good reason why there a huge difference between the fanatec gt2 and a dfgt. one costs £500 the other £80.
david24
isn’t this article a bit late? this wheel was announced way before e3. there also another Official forza wheel which uses the new fanatec wheel base, the one above is just a turbo s with a new rim.
if any one was going to buy one just get the gt2/3 as they come with the pedals and are about 100 euros cheaper for a far better quality rim.
Sympozium
Eurogamer reported on it today so I doubt its old. I can’t even remember if there ever was a wheel announced at/before E3??
JesseDeya
It’s old. The news of this wheel (and the more expensive CSR Elite) is nothing new.
The only news is that you can now pre-order it for delivery on Oct 15.
Incidentally, the CSR Wheel Elite is $499, whereas this CSR Wheel is $249.
I really really want the CSR Elite, but I just bought a Thrustmaster T500RS in April and love it.
david24
wow, you have a thrustmaster t500 and you want to replace it! i wouldn’t worry, the t500’s not going to be beaten for a long while. and the early opinion on the new fanatec is that its somewhere between the g27 and t500.
Awayze
It’s ugly and over priced when you compare the full Fanatec set with Logitech G27.
If its $500 USD then it’ll be like £450 over here.
Sympozium
Yes, its looks a bit like the Ferrari wheel I got but.. compared to maybe others? it looks a bit ugly too…even though its cheap and basic, *cough*
david24
It’s wheel is about on par with the g27 in performance but the pedals are a mile ahead being load cell based. It’s definatly over priced when you can get a g27 for 160 now.
Deathbrin
All you G27 lovers – what’s your point? Not like you can connect a G27 to play Forza?
JesseDeya
The point is that Fanatec, whilst they make great quality products, put an overhead on their products because they have Xbox functionality. This wheel should be priced to compete with the G27, but it isn’t. Standard MS tax.
Awayze
G27 isn’t advertised as Xbox 360 peripheral but this wheel has a Forza logo on it but still “works with PS3”, I don’t get why make it compatible with the PS3? Why would any PS3 user this with GT5.
Also G27 is its main competitor, Forza/Fanatec vs GT5/Logitech G27
david24
why make it ps3 compatible?
because people might like a wheel which works on all platforms?. and as ps3 uses the same why of delivering force feedback as PC all they have to do is not block it. Microsoft on the other hand always have to do it differently and therefore make practically all wheels not compatible unless the wheel maker haves two totally different ways to give force feedback which is ultimately pointless as turn 10 are crap at coding ffb and make the game almost unplayable with a wheel.
Sympozium
I seen a GT5 Logitech wheel for £80 > £100, …. I’d never pay around £200. Thats too much for a wheel, I’m poor…is every person that owns a games system rich or something???
Jesus, make games £20 then >_>
cam the man
I wish.
I use a logitech Wireless (£35), not the best but does the job.
