More Dead Space 3 Details Emerge?

Apparently the next instalment in the Dead Space series will take place on an icy planet.  This is according to an informer who leaked the news to Siliconera. This same informer also leaked the Syndicate reboot.

Earlier this month a video emerged showing the apparent existence of Dead Space 3. The news that a new Dead Space is in the works shouldn’t surprise anyone as it is a popular franchise.

According to the informer, Dead Space 3 will take place on Tau Volantis, an ice planet, after Isaac crash lands on it. Eventually, Isaac discovers other survivors from the crash at an abandoned waystation and again later when he comes across Ellie, from Dead Space 2, and Jennifer, who is a new character. Apparently, Jennifer is a tech person and not really action oriented. Her own interests lie in a codex and some plans set by a group called Rosetta who want to reverse engineer some research so they can gain the knowledge of it.

There aren’t details of what the enemies are or what they look like. Instead , according to the informer, the enemies are being called “the hive mind.”

Of course, I must state this is all rumour but we’ll try and get some answers.

  1. I seem to recall the hive mind from the first one – It’s going to be tough going if all enemies are like that!

  2. I do hope there is truth to this, though Dead Space would benefit from a more confined environment like the first one to ramp up the scare factor. DS2 was enjoyable bit didn’t make me crap myself half as much as the original.

  3. I’m not certain, but I suspect there will be a necromorph outbreak of some kind! :P

    Which is fine by me!

I just imported the PlayStation 7.1 surround sound headset – this was made for Dead Space!!

    • I honestly read that as “I imported the Playstation 7.” I need more caffeine.

      • Ha ha, I wish! Although I’m pretty happy with the headphones for now!

      • I read that too! Some crazy thoughts went through my head at first.

    • How is the headset?

      • Really good, I read a few reviews that said the build quality wasn’t great, but for $99.99 or (£69.99 which I paid) for 7.1 Sony surround sound, wirless headphones, it’s pretty decent. The only obvious “cheap” bit is the retractable mic, but I probably won’t use that anyway. There’s a sliding switch so you can instantly change the sound ratio between Game Sound and Voice (which you usually have to do in the game menu or XMB system/accessory settings, so that’s useful).

Battery is apparently 7 hours on 1 charge. It does require update 3.70 or later. Range seems good, quality is great – can hear sounds I didn’t know existed before! Oh, and it’s very comfortable, the soft ear pieces go completely over your ear so you don’t hear any external sound. I would definately recommend them – they’ll come into their own with BF3 and MW3 I hope, hearing people trying to sneak up on me!! :)

      • could you give me the link of what site you bought it off because i really want 1 now after your mini review of it >:-D

      • Lol, I can give you the website….it was 365games.co.uk

I had never used them before but you can pay via PayPal which protects you, an they arrived after 2 days, and delivery is free! Accessories are not region locked which is good as they must have imported them since they’ve not been released here yet! :)

This might work, I can’t find it on the website, only the stock alert link they emailed me. And the price has already gone up to £72.99 from £69.99….guess because UK price isn’t confirmed!

  4. Sounds promising, I can’t remember who Ellie is though (the evil bitch?), looks like another playthrough of the first game is in order. Just for fun though, I already have the platinum.

    • *DEAD SPACE 2 SPOILERS**DEAD SPACE 2 SPOILERS**DEAD SPACE 2 SPOILERS*

I think the writer made a little mistake in the article. Ellie is from Dead Space 2, not the original.
Ellie is the woman who is with Stross for much of the second half of the game and escapes with Isaac at the end.

      • Just to warn you all, i think there may be spoilers above! :)

      • I think you imagined it. I also now want to play Dead Space 2. Curse being at the office.

  5. I’m currently playing through Dead Space 1… well by that I mean I sometimes continue playing through Dead Space after having manned up for the task. ;-)

  6. Really loved Dead Space 2 (haven’t played the first yet) and jumped at some scenes and was truly amazed by the necromorph models and how horrifying they were. More of the same would be ample for me, if not a little scarier ;)

    • The best thing for me is the lack of HUD, and that the health “bar” and ammo count is all built into the player and screen. Same with the videos that pop up and you can circle around. Having a HUD-free screen really makes it more immersive.

      • …which is exactly what you want with a horror game.

      • Yeah that is really good about it. Tempted to play through it again :L

  7. Dead Space 1 & 2 are both brilliant games, with the freaky Necromorph demon babies! I hope they do release the third game, but I don’t like the “Icy Planet” idea.

  8. sounds interesting=) and i loved both DS and DS2… too bad the second one wasn`t as scary as the first, but it wasn`t a bad game just because it was less scary…
it would actually be awesome if it was coop in the 3rd game… but then it would kinda drift off from what its ment to be, a horror game… just like they did with Resident Evil 5… so i would suggest not to do coop, atleast not in the campaign… but some arcade look alike missions would be nice coop, a horde mode maybe?? =)

  9. Sounds awesome. Love Dead Space loads…..

  10. I don’t like the idea of been on an icy planet, sounds to me the areas would be a lot bigger than Dead Space 1 and 2, and its the claustrophobic feeling from Dead Space, especially 1, that really makes it scarier.

    **Dead Space Spoiler**

The scariest part I found in dead space 2 was having to go back on and into the cramped corridors of the USG Ishimura, the ship from the first game. Man I was crapping it! ha!
