GTA V Trailer Goes Live – What Can You Spot?

So the big trailer has finally landed. Rockstar has always known how to make a good teaser and this one for GTAV is no exception. It gives away little snippets, sets the mood and is packed with nice little nods to things from past GTA titles.

So, we’ve noticed a couple of things, like the jetski being a “Speedophile 2000”, that are pure GTA but we want to know what you’ve spotted? Any funny little sight gags flick past that you want to point out? Was that Tommy Vercetti with a new voice (did Ray Liotta turn down a role reprisal?)

We also noticed several recurring themes – aeroplanes, exercise, homeless people – and a nice mix of enthnicities which could hint at some of the gangs we’ll see. We also thought we spotted a homeless guy begging who looks suspiciously like Niko Bellic from GTAIV and is that CJ running from the cops at the end?

Here’s the video again, for your convenience.

Tell us what you spotted in the comments below!

  1. When I put my predictions earlier I spelt the name of the city wrong, I spelt Miami like this ‘London’ ;}

    • an easy mistake to make. o_O

      • Don’t know why I put Miami when I meant LA. Probably trying to do too many things at the same time.

  2. 18 seconds in there’s a blimp top right hand corner. Wonder what fun, if any, we could get from there

  3. this is definitely san andreas then…They had what looked like yosemite which is on the way to Las Vegas. Those wind turbines remind me of the valley between LA and Palm Springs which is pretty much on the San Andreas Fault Line….I’m thinking this is going to be GTA IV on a HUGE scale – which is exciting, although I didn’t really like GTA IV ?!?!?!

And it’s got more realistic animations and graphics than GTA IV.

  5. Bit of wine tasting at the vineyard or even owning one.

  6. soooo excited!

  7. Lol Tony that’s just cause 2

  8. The slogan ‘Putting the FU in fumigate’ on the side of the van made me laugh. Also Los Santos is written in graffiti on the wall so that confirms the same name at least. Not sure why everyone is saying San Andreas though, it doesn’t confirm that it is the entire area or am I missing something?

    • Other slogans I just noticed, the postal van days ‘We aim not to lose it’ and the police car has ‘Obey and survive’ on the side. Lol.

    • It doesn’t say for certain, however there are some larger areas such as the mountains and the truck stops from out in redwood from the old GTA

    • Number plates say San Andreas

  9. I was liking everything i read until i got to the word ‘exercise’ – I really hope you don’t mean you have to ‘build yourself’ like in San Andreas, as that was nothing but a bloody chore!

If it has exercise & you have to continually date your friends to keep them onside like in GTA IV, i think i will pass.

    • so you’d pass on potentially the biggest game of (insert year) because of exercise or dating?! they’re not game breakers, yes they can b a bit tedious but i think rockstar will get the balance right. also, building yourself up in SA wasnt the worst thing as it meant you’d run faster or have different fighting moves which was good

      • Yeah, but it was so boring that it entirely put me off of finishing the game in SA. & having to take your friends out on dates just to make sure that they were still your ‘fweind’ in GTA IV was just tedious.

For me, GTA is all about the madcap stuff you can do in the game outside of the main storyline & as far as i am concerned, they lost that a little bit from SA onwards.

I play games for escapism, so i enjoy doing things that i plain would not get away with in real life – I don’t play games to have some sort of ‘virtual life’ where i can do stuff that i can do just as easily in the real world.

Sure, by all means have these things as choices for those that want to do it, just don’t force me to have to do it to progress the story.

      • I like them parts mate lol.

  10. i definitely think that fat begging nico lookalike is a sly dig at the guy who voiced nico then wanted more money.

a bit of countryside would be nice again.
that’s one of the things i missed about san andreas in gta iv, no wide open spaces where you can just drive.

    • oh nice, i never heard the story about him wanting more money. love the wide open stuff from gta SA, would spend hours goin to the farms etc and just exploring, this game looks like there’ll be seriously big open spaces again, absolutely lovely

      • yeah, there was this whole thing where the guy claimed he should get a cut of the profits because the game was so successful.

anyway, i loved just going for a drive with the radio playing in san andreas, hopefully this one will support custom soundtracks, i don’t think gta iv did, not on ps3 i mean.

san andreas with an 80s soundtrack like vice city would be a dream game for me. ^_^

      • Why would you ever want a custom soundtrack? GTA’s soundtrack and radio is some of the best around, so amazingly funny! :D

      • they don’t always feature many songs that i like on the radio so i’d like to be able to listen to stuff i have on my ps3.

previous GTA games have had that feature, even when it wasn’t a standard feature of the console, even the stories games on psp had it, you had to use a program on pc to convert your musiv files to the right format but it was still possible.

the DJs are entertaining, but they do repeat stuff and after playing for a while it gets more and more noticeable.
