UK Charts: Modern Warfare Slots Top Spot

Modern Warfare 3 has blown up the charts this week. It’s number one, of course. If you didn’t see that coming, you’re either a blinkered fool or a hopeless romantic. It may not have been quite as successful as Activision hoped though, UK sales seem to be down in comparison to Black Ops’ first week, despite Activision claiming big increases in users.

Elsewhere in the charts, Skyrim picks Battlefield 3’s pocket to take the second spot and EA’s own big seller, FIFA 12 is still in the top five at number four. Uncharted 3 still has a firm grip on the top ten at number six Batman is holding strong too. Zumba Fitness must have sold gajillions by now, it seems to have been in the top ten forever but then, just outside of this chart, at number 23 is Mario Kart Wii. Now that’s a long tail.

  1. Holy Douavkin! I wasn’t expecting UC3 to drop a few places. I knew Skyrim would be second as it seems nothing is able to outsell COD except COD.

    • Ask Moshi – I’m sure he knows all about it! :)

      • I googled it and it seems to be a social online game where you pretend to adopt a monster-like pet…. and this beat Arkham City.

    • My little sister plays it…

      Its this Kids mmo where you adopt a monster then complete minigames and go on quests with it.

      Which then earns you money for more monsters and better houses for them..

  4. The only time I’ve ever enjoyed such dominance is while united owned the premier league. It’s never nice to see one thing permanently dominate like this. Arabs need to buy another studio, inject billions and get something else stealing its dominance.

  5. Both MW3 and Skyrim are brilliant games, well deserved.

    Skyrim seems well and MW3 well we all saw that one coming….

  7. I didn’t know Sega passed the development of the new Sonic game on to “Ega”. ;)

    No real shockers this week. Deus Ex dropped out of the top 21. Too bad.

  8. Very surprised Sonic is so low – although not for me it’s had some decent coverage and it’s behind Tintin, Spyro and Moshi what!?!

    I guess everyone who was going to buy Football Manager must have done so in the first week as that seems low for what I’d expect.

    Good to see MW3 and Uncharted going strong.

  9. Great to see that MW3 is selling less than Cod:Black ops. No game deserves to sell that much.

  10. Glad to see MW3, Skyrim and Uncharted3 are selling well. All three are fantastic games and I’m having trouble juggling my time between them at the moment lol. Fingers crossed SR:The Third and Rayman Origins join the top 10 in the coming weeks :D
