UK Games Chart: Modern Warfare, Obviously

Activision’s juggernaut shooter has seen a two per cent bump in sales – its first increase since release day. So top spot is held by Modern Warfare 3, predictably. Interestingly, FIFA 12 seems like it will be under a lot of people’s trees this Christmas. The football game has seen a 30 per cent rise in sales and moved back up the chart from number five to take second place ahead of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, which saw a two per cent decline in sales.

Ubisoft won’t be too saddened by Assassin’s Creed’s slight decline though, their other massive franchise – Just Dance – has stormed the charts and moved back up to fourth place on the back of a 54 per cent increase in sales. There’s going to be a lot of dancing this Christmas, it seems.

Mario Kart 7, which was the only game I played this weekend, debuted at number 8. This is a key period for Nintendo and the 3DS but with the Wii version of Mario Kart still hanging in on the charts at number 23, we assume they’re running a marathon rather than a sprint.

  1. MW3 better watch out, I saw an add for Zumba 2 today!!

  2. While I’m not a fan of a lot of the games in the current top20, it is still nice to see some actual games in the list rather than a bunch of fitness titles and minigames.
The lack of Rayman Origins makes me very sad :(

    • Same here. I was really hoping to see Rayman appear on the list this week. *sad face*

      • I did see something quite pleasing in Gamestation on Saturday however. A guy was queueing up with a copy of Rayman Origins and when the store worker asked him if he wanted any other games like Battlefield3 or Modern Warfare the guy said “no thanks mate, I prefer proper games”
        Made me smile :D

      • Haha, that’s great! Rayman Origins really is a masterpiece.

      • Indeed, I think that people are under the impression that it’s just another Rabbids game being released and dismiss it out of hand, but nothing could be further from the truth, it is an absolutely astounding game!

      • Also the stupid PSN pricing is probably putting people off, not realising that it’s only a £30 disc based game!

  3. Zumba still manages to cling to number 20. I just don’t get how…?

    • Someone must like it as the chart is expanded each week so zumba still features. Last week it was the top 14, this week it’s the top 20, next week ?

  4. People are buying some real stinkers. Rayman, guys, buy it!

  5. Still no sign of Zumba 2. Odd.

  6. Rayman will bounce up after Christmas Day ;) (I hope so)

  7. I’m surprised that Fifa 12 is at number 2 this week. MW3 is going to stay at number one for a while but Zumba 2 may give it a lot of trouble.

Uncharted 3 seems to be drifting off every week. But it is an exclusive and it pretty much had no chance with the influx of games that came out over the past few weeks.

Saints Row the third seems to have dropped a few places but i have heard that it’s not as good as SR2 was and some of the activies from 2 were thrown out the window.

I’m surprised that Forza 4 is still up in the charts as it’s an exclusive and they rarely stay up on the charts for long. :O

The Batman seems to have grappled his way back into the charts and Zumba 1 is nearly off the charts. :D But that means that Zumba 2 is due to be released soon. *shudders and takes covers behind his gaming collection*:p

Is it wrong that i want Skyrim to keep falling down the chart in the hope of it being £20 by christmas?

  8. be getting Rayman for christmas, oh yes.

  9. Nice to see Uncharted 3 still floating around up there.

  10. Nice to see Uncharted 3 still in the charts.
