Well, the price wars have been hotting up for some time now so it’s not surprising to see someone go as low as possible with the Vita’s launch price.
[drop]This has just popped up on popular deal-finder website HotUKDeals.com and it is basically pointing out that, although the online price remains at £219, Asda will be selling the WiFi PS Vita for £196.98 in store from the 22nd of February – launch day. That’s a considerable bargain, but it’s unlikely to be the last one, with other supermarkets surely going to play their hands soon enough.
In addition, we assume this is just for the console itself so factor in any special pre-order packs or bundled memory cards when you’re planning your purchase.
We’ll let you know, obviously, if any other prices roll in between now and Wednesday.

I have the Amazon deal on pre-order and even with an ASDA 10% discount available to me. Without a card, this deal is still not any better.

Wowser, I’ll be checking duty free before I commit though.

Will hold off for now, but should any decent role playing game like Elder Scrolls then I’m sold. My main issue at the moment is lack of games that last longer than a train ride home. But under £200 – isn’t that comparable to the 3DS at launch?

Bundle! In terms of school children shouting it and then all jumping on to one poor soul at the bottom. And in terms of a better deal. Fingers crossed Yerp shows a better sign for the vita than Japan’s early tail off. Really. Really. Really want this console to suceed. As for all the gumbos directly comparing vita to i-device, please cease and desist.

Didnt mean gumbos on this site. You dear chaps and chapesses are perfectly balanced, objective, fair and
un-troll like which is the reason this is about the only site i ever actually comment on.

Amazon is still the best for me.

How can they reduce the price if the bleeding thing has yet to be released? Surely this will annoy Sony a bit. And i bet my local Asda won’t be stocking any as the video game section consists of Fifa and BF3.
I rather pay £220 for a bundle then £200 just for the console as it probably will be more expensive to get the extras.

It’s well under £200 for me, cos with Amazon reducing their price to £209.99 from £219.99 when I pre-ordered it about a week ago and I had a £20 Amazon voucher made it £189.99 for me :)
JBoo
I would buy the 3G version for under £200:P That is when i am getting a PSVita;)
