Kinect Star Wars Video Shows Dancing, Pod Racing and More

Some gameplay footage of Kinect Star Wars has been released, showing off a number of modes. First up is combat, followed by Pod Racing, but the best bit of the video has to be the dance mode, where leia gets down with her funky self.

I’ve already shown this to Peter, suggesting it might cheer him up, and now he’s not talking to me anymore. The game is due out in April.

  1. I don’t know what to say about that dancing section. Sweet god…

  2. Oh.My.God. That’s every young Star Wars nerds wet dream, that Leia scene. The pod racing looks pretty cool but other than that it looks a bit of a joke.

  3. i… just…
    words fail me.

    no wait they’re back.

    what a mess.
the graphics actually look ok, it looks to me like they’ve improved them from the last time they showed the game.
but the gameplay, if anything, looks worse.

without seeing the person playing i couldn’t comment on how responsive it is or isn’t, but it just looks like you flail your arms about hoping to hit something.

but whatever, that looks like it’ll be the most fun part of the game, unless you like dancing games that is..

    and that rancor bit?
looks like it was made for preschoolers, “stamp your feet on the ground, and wave your hands in the air and tell mummy and daddy you want that toy”

i half expect timmy mallet to pop up.

but then contrast that with the dance section, with Leia thrusting her chest out and swaying her hips like that, i’ve got an idea who they’re aiming that at, and it’s not preschoolers.

and that podracing level, looks exactly the same as the first level from the old podracing game, on n64 i think.

i think even Jabba would be thinking this is a step too far in the whoring out of the star wars franchise.

honestly, this looks like a series of tech demos or minigames.

    • Except Star Wars Episode 1: Racer was a fantastic game that used proper controllers. This… this is just abhorrent. Fail.

Sabre battle was way too slow, clunky and on rails. Fail.

And yes, the Rancor section did look exactly like it was made for 4 year olds. Fail.

      Dancing. Seriously? Fail

  4. Licence to print money for MS. This the Sesame Street game and Disney title have nailed the Kinect for kids as the motion device to have, its all my kids go on about. Instead I make the play with the Move and Start the Party!

  5. Aw FFS!!
Ole Ben Kenobi will be spinning in his grave when he sees this pile of shite.
Somebody needs to give Lucas a good feckin shake.

    • if he had a grave, going on the films he didn’t, there was nothing to bury but his robes, and they probably blew up with the death star.
i have to say one thing though, Kenobi was wrong about one thing.

you can find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
      well, now you can. ^_^

  6. …….& stick a MOVE controller right up his ****

  7. Long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, “We No Speak No Americano” had been in the top spot for the 4th week now. Facepalm*

  8. Move, move, move!
