See How Dust 514 Works With Eve Online, Beta Info

CCP gave a nice little presentation yesterday in Iceland. The keynote covered Dust 514, the upcoming PlayStation 3 MMO tie in shooter. They showed off two players on separate PS3s playing through the same mission.

There was also some beta information announced, with a closed beta commencing in April which those in the room will all be included in. There will be further waves of beta testers between April and June before the beta opens up to many more in June, “Around E3”. Sounds like a couple of months of closed beta and then an open beta around an E3 showcase.

At the same event, they showed a little bit of the integration with EVE Online. An EVE player can basically coordinate with a Dust 514 player who assigns a target on the planet surface for the orbiting EVE ship to bombard. It all looks very cool.

The 34 minute presentation is in the video below, skip ahead to 4:45 to see the game in action.

  1. This is THE game I’m so excited for. It’s been on my radar for so unbelievably long, here is hoping I can worm my way into a BETA, the wait is killing me.

    • I’m seconding all of the above, hope you don’t mind sir.

  2. excited for this game shame the vita version is not an actual game at all that was a real let down

  3. i wonder if one can manage to play both a the same time, the mission on the PS3, to select a target that he bombs with his spaceship from the PC :-D

    • should be able to, I and some mates often run a couple of characters concurrently in EVE (my fighty man and my trader) so no reason why that shouldn’t work mate :)

I reaad once that some pirate dude who also ran a trader character once torched his own trader’s freighter when it jumped through the gate his pirate was camping and he just lit it up without checking. HAhahaha.

  4. The cross-platform bombardment right around the 25min mark was awesome!

  5. if a player in the game did have their own EVE ship orbiting the planet then they would be in an extreme postion of power on the ground indeed,

    • True enough, but personally I’d want a fleet present, a solitary, very expensive battleship would be highly vulnerable to hostile action. All it takes is one interceptor at a fraction of the cost of that BS to pin that bad boy in place with a warp scrambler, ready to blasted to smithereens and the pilot “pod killed”.

I reckon an awful lot of DUST’s ground fighting will be take place beneath the massive fleet confrontations and over the planets contended by EVE’s alliances. I certainly hope so anyway, maybe the word Epic will be rightly applied to a video game for a change.

  6. Potentially the biggest release of the year for me :)

  7. My second most anticipated game for the rest of the year, really looking forward to it.

    • What’s the first? I’m intrigued :)

  8. I don’t really play online but this still sounds pretty cool and being connected with EVE should ensure a healthy shelf-life and hopefully lot’s of variety with the maps.

  9. This looks like its going to be a game changer! Cant wait for it.

  10. watching this makes me wanna reactivate my eve account and start preparing for dust integration
