Robert Bowling has this evening resigned from Infinity Ward (and, naturally, Activision).
“Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision,” he tweeted.
The news comes rather unexpectedly, with Bowling, who goes by the handle fourzerotwo, is a very public figurehead for the Call of Duty brand.
I don’t know the guy personally, but I wish him all the best in whatever he does next.

I would expect the natural movement over to Respawn. Surprised though he is rather well known to everyone.

yeah, hence the excerpt for the story. makes sense to me.
Death_In_Flamez
Crazy news, cannot believe he’s leaving especially with all the campaigning he’s done to make COD a more accessible experience :/ Guess he’s finally had enough of it and good luck to him (hoping for a move to Respawn)

I really hope he joins Respawn, he knows what the community want how to deal with them (very important considering what the COD community is like!)
I wish him all the best, not that he needs it, being the ‘Creative Strategist’/Community Manager of one of if not the biggest gaming franchise ever is one hell of a thing to put on your CV!

Well that was unexpetected. I’m sure he won’t have a problem getting a job elsewhere though.

Wow, was not expecting that.

His tweet is very matter-of-fact so perhaps he is, indeed, going to the dark side. :-)

Just reading some of the crap this guy had to put up with. Jees.
SpikeyMikey23
shocking isn’t it. He gets so much abuse!
HoboCastro
It’s horrendous isn’t it. Attacking his sexuality, his family, his newborn child, publicating his address. It’s a wonder he put up with it for so long.
As he said himself. His title should have been “Community punching bag”.
bigmac175
Wow, that’s quite a surprise. Can understand why but still can’t believe it

Good. Constantly lied about MW2 updates in the Infinity Ward forums for PS3, and only chose to answer Tweets where there was a positive answer. If they are going to make an individual the public face of MW, then at least make him honest. He claims to be a “Gamer, Geek, Dad” but showed little care in updating the community with the horrendous MW2 hacking situation, despite us lining his pockets.

Hopefully this is a sign that what the old IW team is doing is going to be something to look forward to. The poor excuse of game called MW3 is miles behind the enjoyabilty of CoD4, MW2 and even BLOPS.

Resigned. Makes a change from reading about job losses every other day but unlike those poor souls, he won’t have any problem finding another job.
