Ghost Recon Future Soldier Closed Beta Announced

This just in from the Ubisoft dudes: Ghost Recon Future Soldier is getting a closed beta, and it’s coming soon. It’s a multiplayer beta, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it will commence on the 19th of April before closing on the 2nd of May.

It will allow 12 players to choose one of three classes each and take part in the Conflict game mode on two different maps – Pipeline and Mill. Conflict has your team complete objectives throughout the map to earn points over a single 15 minute round. The highest scoring team wins.

On the 26th of April, the Saboteur game mode will be added. This has both teams fight for a bomb which spawns in the middle of the map before carrying it to the opponent’s base and detonating it. Saboteur games take place over a single 10 minute round.

So, how do you get in on this closed beta? If you own Splinter Cell: Conviction on Xbox 360, you’ll be able to access the beta directly through that game. If you pre-order Ghost Recon Future Soldier on Xbox 360 you’ll receive a beta key to input. Ubisoft has also stated that certain websites will have key giveaways (we assume this is how they intend to populate the PS3 side of the beta) so keep your eyes peeled.

Finally, they’ve also formally announced the Ghost Recon Network, a free companion network that supports the game via smartphone and tablet apps as well as in-browser at the Ghost Recon Network website. The iOS and Android apps are due to be released on May 25th, alongside the game.

Here’s a huge gallery of screenshots to show off the Ghost Recon Network.

  1. At last. I was wondering what had happened to getting Ghost Recon Beta access with Splinter Cell: Conviction. I don’t think I’ll get to play much of it as I will be bogged down with course work, sadly.

  2. Hmm. The beta was originally planned for February, and I’m not too sure how effective a 2 week beta will be, and so soon to release. I guess it all depends how much testing they’ve already done, and if this more geared towards server testing rather than actual game testing.
Either-way, I really hope I can grab myself a code!

    • Much of the main game testing should have been completed through some form of aloha testing

    • i love the way they call it a beta nowadays..
like you say two weeks to test a game is a very short time.granted we may spot a few bugs.but lets face it this is just a DEMO.
lets dust off splinter cell then.

  3. Sounding good…

  4. Really looking forward to this game, it’s a little different to most military shooters out there and I have pretty high hopes.

  5. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Far Cry 3. Truly the year of Ubisoft. Bring it on! :)

    • Rainbow Six is next year! And you forgot AC3, probably their biggest title this year!

  6. This was announced two days ago.

    Slacking at TSA. :P

  7. Oh, by the way, in case you don’t know.

They’re giving away codes for the beta on the GRFS Facebook page. You just have to enter the sweepstake. Only 400 codes, but you might get lucky.

  8. Thought PSN Plus subscribers were also getting in on this closed beta?

  9. @Winkle – I was also under this impression. I’m sure I remember reading somewhere PS+ subs were to be getting access to the beta.
