Not a fan of inappropriately enforced control methods being shoehorned into your AAA console exclusive franchises?
Then rejoice, as Gamespot is reporting that Gears of War: Exile has been cancelled.
The game, first picked up last January via a domain name registration, was believed to be an on-rails, Kinect controlled shooter in the Gears universe.
I love Gears of War, I do, but this really does sound that bad.
“Let’s just bury the hatchet now,” said Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski. “Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.”
Porcupine_I
why would they ever cancel a kinect game?
Kennykazey
Good for them.
Are you sure it wasn’t Gears of War: Karting?

Never understood the “it sounds rubbish, so obviously will be.” Didn’t we learn from Burnout Crash?

Yeah, it wouldn’t have worked due to the nature of the Gears games. Plus, i think a large majority of the fans don’t like Kinect thus resulting in this being doomed if it wasn’t cancelled.
But i wonder if they will use some elements from this for the next GOW? For example, plot, new enemies and weapons etc..
I am happy that Epic admitted that they thought it wasn’t worth doing as it should avoid a split in the fanbase and splits in fanbases can become ugly. That and i think they would either dumb it down to get a wider audience.

Well this is a sign of relief to xbox owners.

Gears and Kinect automatically screams fail in my ears. I was curious sure but I’d rather they do more awesome games. Stick to what you’re good at
