It’s real, then – the new God of War game is called Ascension, and it’s for PS3. We’ll hopefully get full details today but for now the teaser is above, so enjoy.
“Many know the story of Kratos,” says the trailer, “the mortal turned god who brought down the very walls of Olympus, but there was a time before Kratos became the monster known as the Ghost of Sparta.”
“A time where something other than rage consumed him. A time when, in spite of the madness that plagued him, Kratos would break his blood oath to an unjust god. A time when he would no longer be bound in blood.”
That all clearly sets up the game as pre-Ghost of Sparta, so it’s the first game in the series by my reckoning.

I’ll have to see some gameplay first. I really hope they spice things up a little this time around. GoW does suffer from repetitiveness, especially if you play them in quick succession (which was my problem with Bioshock 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2).
I always rant about GoW. In my opinion the games aren’t as good as some people say but they are solid games and I’ll probably end up bvuying it anyways…

Why tease a teaser? Normally with Sony, when they tease a game they release game play footage. But this just confirms what we already knew: that this is a GOW game.
