Uncharted 3 GotY Edition Announced

Seventeen million copies of anything is quite a lot. That’s how many Uncharted games have been sold, according to Sony. The figure includes all four Uncharted games so that’s Golden Abyss as well as the three Naughty Dog titles. It’s a lot, isn’t it? I wonder how high they’d be if you stacked all 17, 320,000 game boxes on top of each other?

To celebrate this news, a Game of the Year edition of Uncharted 3 has been announced. It will contain all 14 pieces of DLC that have been released (listed below) as well as the game itself.

Here’s what the cover will look like. I think we can all agree that it’s a significant improvement over yesterday’s ugly Batman Arkham City Game of the Year Edition cover.

  1. Clearly the cover is missing 10 OUT OF 10 AND 5 OUT OF 5 plastered all over it :P

    • And the artwork isn’t as good as the original one in my opinion.

      • I dunno actually, I really like this cover too.

      • Yeah I think it’s supposed to look like it’s sand over the cover and I like it! And yeah the Batman AA GOTY is ugly as hell.

    • I think they’ve left them out to give the cover a clean and elegant look. To me, it looks like the cover speaks for itself. The logo, the sandy background, and the prestigious looking “Game of the Year” title above the logo itself.

  2. Have this sat next to me, still yet to get past the first few chapters. The first two are some of my favourite games ever (if not THE favourite with Uncharted 2 for my PS3) yet this just didn’t grab me in the same way.

    • How can you resist not playing it through ’til the end?! This is an amazing game :-)

      • Pretty easy actually. Have not touched it much :(

      • Give it another try!

      • I’m the same to be fair. I haven’t gone back to it since first playing it. I think i was playing as Drake as a youngster if i recall? :S

    • yeah, I’m at the start of chapter 11 since a couple of days after it came out. Keep meaning to go back to it but just find other things to play instead. Among Thieves is probably one of my favourite games of this generation too.

  3. Well worth it. Sick game.

  4. *Cuts and pastes from Twitter* MADEUPGAMESNEWS: Uncharted 3 GotYe Edition Announced, features Nate And Elena singing “Somebody I Used To Know”

  5. Game case thickness = 1.4cm.

    Multiplied by 17,320,000 = 242,480 metres.

    Everest is only 8,848m tall.

The moon is 363 million metres away.

    So somewhere between the two.

  6. So the question is: When?

    • That bit must be a secret, they don’t mention a date.

I guess it’s from roughly now… as in, when the shops sell out of current discs and re-order more, they’ll get super GotY ones. Maybe.

    • 2011. It was the game of last year.

      • Fair enough.

      • Ah, but they have repackaged it & are selling it again soon.

Ergo, GotY 2012 (in their minds at least). :P

  7. Easily my fav franchise to date. There is one thing I hate each time, the story hs to end.
They all took my breath away & had me so engrossed. Hard to choose which gripped me the most.

  8. Any idea on price and whether the DLC will be on the disc? I have Uncharted 3 already but would buy this if I save HDD space and it makes the DLC work out fairly cheap!

  9. Yeah, thats quite a celebration…

    *sigh*

I wonder if publishers will ever realise that things like this make people hesitant to buy new games :l

    • probably not, but soon I guess

      *crash*

    • I wouldn’t say it makes me more hesitant, as if i want something enough there is no way i am going to wait – But it does grate a little to see it all bundled together at a lesser price a few months down the line!

    • I agree and think it will have an effect. I know I bang on about it, but DiRT 3 was a con – let loyal customers buy a lot of the DLC on release, then release a bundled version, cheaper, later on. I’ve learned my lesson – no more DiRT games for me now.

  10. Actually, this is only worth it if you are going to pour some serious hours into the multiplayer, as that is the only additional content you are getting. Not too bothered about that at all really (i have barely played the game, let alone wanted to pour hours & hours into the mp!).
