First Dead Space 3 Screenshots Show Co-op Gameplay

As expected (and as we’ve been saying for months) Dead Space 3 will feature co-op gameplay – at least that’s what these new screens (via AGB) hint at.

Co-op has been rumoured for a while now, and backed up recently by the reveal of a new character. It also looks like the suits have had a makeover too.

    Maybe we’ll even see some Dead Space DLC discounts to tie in with the announcement.

  3. Seriously guys !? Does no one here want the game to be more survival horror than another action based shoot them all game…
    First they make Resident Evil into an shootem’up game and now the only possible hope for survival horrors goes the same way. It will probably be a good game, but well…

    • I agree, DS2 walked the line pretty well for me, if is steps any farther away from being it’s horror elements I will be quite unhappy.

      Let us not even think about Resi 5, the only horror there was the game itself. *shudders*

    • i agree, i found Dead Space to be much superior to Dead Space 2, it really hit me how much better Dead Space 1 was when in dead space 2 **SPOILER** you go back on the USG Ishimura, all the tension and scares came back to me from the first one, it was the only time n Dead Space 2 that i felt those feelings of tension and dread.

    • I dunno, I hear what you’re saying, especially given the travesty that was RE5, but Doom3 had very tense co-op.

      Online Co-Op is good but nothing beat local

  7. Fantastic, I really hoped for ages the next Dead Space would have co-op!! I hope the characters differ so you have to relay on each others’ strengths and weaknesses to keep it scary.
    I think people should withold judgement before deciding that co-op means it will be less scary.

  8. I’m deffo buying this if it’s co op!!!!!!! I liked dead space one never had the chance to play 2 cause the online put me off as I don’t see how it would work. Might pick it up.

    Does anyone know if the DS2 ties in with DS1 story

    • Don’t let the online put you off, I just didn’t play it and found the sinlge player to be more than sufficient – it was fantastic. It looks and handles better than the first game, but be warned that it’s more action-packed than the first, so not to everyone’s taste. Personally I prefered it and it’s my favourite game this gen. And yes, the story ties in.

      • You say it’s more action packed and others say things along the same lines, does this translate to it being less scary than the first?

      • Certainly less atmospheric, since there aren’t such large gaps inbetween fighting enemies in DS2, and the location doesn’t feel so isolated as you aren’t on an abandoned ship and subsequently the sound doesn’t play such a big part in creating fear and suspense as it did in DS1. I guess there are also more interruptions with other characters in DS2 aswell. However I thought it was brilliant, and was happier to play it alone! :)

    • As Youles said if the online put you off just don’t play it. I tried and it was shit. Single player was fantastic. Bit more action but the story was fantastic and it does link with the first so i think it’s safe to say 3 will link with 2 so i’d definitely pick it up.

    • Thanks guys, will pick up the game this weekend when I return home. Much appreciated for the feed back but what about trophies not that am going for the platinum lol but does the online affect trophies. This is why am not a big fan of trophies cause I hate online

      • Foruntately there are no online trophies.

        Unfortunately one trophy requires you to play through the game on Hardcore difficulty, with only 3 saves throughout….but I have the Plat :D

        Erm as for the hardcore how hardcore are we talking here, you haven’t played God of war have you, erm uncharted the first one crushed was pain, is it harder than that

      • Nope, it’s nothing like W@W or Uncharted difficult. It’s not hard really, just tense as you know one mistake can cause death, meaning you’ve got to repeat a few hours work and re-start from your last save! I saved at Chapter 5, 8 and 13 I think. The Force Gun is your friend in Hardcore.
