Microsoft has opened it’s E3 Press Conference with a Halo 4 live action trailer, which tranistioned into a gameplay trailer.
The trailer starts with a speech given about the UNSC Infinity. As the trailer goes on the UNSC Infinity is shown to be crash landing on an unknown alien planet; the same planet Master Chief ended up after Halo 3. It’s here we see Master Chief first appear, watching the ship go down, with Cortana informing him of the distance between themselves and the crash site.
An unknown entity which looks like a giant floating silver ball then appears and takes off after the ship. It’s here where we transition into the gameplay. Master Chief is now equipped with VISR technology, which first appeared in Halo 3: ODST. The mission takes place in a jungle environment, which looks really good. Master Chief reaches a clearing and finds some familiar enemies, which he kills quickly.
Cortana then lets us know something about a new enemy, as they’re attacking. They’re not organic life, and they’re equipped with Forerunner weaponry. Cortana also seems to be malfunctioning a bit in this section, which could pose a clue to what will happen through Halo 4, as she is past the limit at which AIs start to deteriorate.
It really does look like 343 Industries new entry into the Halo series could be something special. When the trailer becomes available we’ll post it here.

I’m watching the microsoft presentation right now. The halo 4 presentation was incredible. I think it’s safe to say the Halo franchise is in safe hands.

Looked good hopefully the game can be as good as the first 2 instalments. Reach and the other spin offs just didnt do it for me.

I bought Halo 3 a while back but I am so used to Iron Sights (Cod4 was my first proper FPS) that I can’t really play a FPS without that option. Would it be so hard for them to put in the option?

The lore in Halo outright eliminates the need for ironsights in the Halo universe. I believe they use a system called a ‘Smart-Link’ system; essentially, it displays the ironsights on the visor of the user without them having to lift the gun to use the ironsights on it. Also, if they DID put ironsights in the game, they’d be outright accused of copying from the Call of duty series, so it’s two-fold on why it’ll probably never be seen in the series.

Looks like Halo in my book, which is a good thing. I was worried with Bungie no longer in charge but it looks like the guys over at 343 have everything under control.
