Arkham City Armored Edition Announced for Wii U

WB Games has just joined Nintendo on stage in Los Angeles to provide the first E3 showing of a third party game at Nintendo’s show. It ties in closely with the touchscreen gamepad, as you’d expect.

Batman and Catwoman will both appear, in exclusive new armoured suits. There are a number of gameplay enhancements too, thanks to the second screen. You can fill up a B.A.T. meter via combat and once filled you’ll be able to use the tablet controller for some exclusive features like selectively tapping to explode your explosive foam or remotely controlling your batarang with the motion control. Basically, new ways to control existing features.

There also seemed to be some second-screen implementation with the Detective Mode, scanning the TV screen to search through environments.

It looks gorgeous, but then it was hardly an ugly game on PS3 or 360, was it?

  1. Well, if a year old game is all that Nintendo has up it’s sleeve, then they’re pretty screwed already.

  2. I can’t believe they devoted stage time at the top of their show to something like this.

Though considering the rest of what they had to show, it’s not really that much of a surprise.

  3. Bit late, Ninty as the GOTY edition is out soon and cahnces are anyone who wanted B:AC has already got it. But it is a good indication that they are porting mature games over to the Wii U. I wonder if they plan to port every major game from last year over so that there is a decent line up at launch to avoid a repeat of the 3DS?
