Bethesda have announced that Doom 3 BFG Edition will be released on October 19th in Europe (the 16th in the US). The game will feature a remastered version of Doom 3, along with the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack and seven new levels called “The Lost Mission”.
It’ll be $40 on PS3 and Xbox 360 – UK prices to follow but expect £29.99.
“Re-mastered for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, DOOM 3 and it’s [sic] expansion pack offer enhanced visuals further immersing you in the demonic world like never before,” says the Bethesda press release.
The game is now in 3D, features 5.1 surround sound, Xbox 360 Achievements, PlayStation 3 trophies, improved rendering and lighting, and a new check point save system “allowing for smoother progression through the game”.
There’s also the armour-mounted flashlight as standard, so those scared of the dark can see and shoot at the same time, and the pack will include ports of the original DOOM and DOOM 2 games.

I’m still scratching my head as to why they are re-releasing this. Doom3 was shockingly bad.
damoxuk
In your opinion maybe. Game was good fun.
However the price is not good fun.
Overpriced HD remake. With old doom 1 and 2 added (unless those are remade?)

I never really played Doom 3 that much, tried it briefly on xbox. Tempted by this as it looks pretty good in the trailer!

How much??? Jeez.
Should someone tell Bethesda that its 2012 & that we already have better games for less money than that?

finally, a torch and a gun at the same time, joy. ^_^
i played the original xbox version and of the parts i played there were a few bit cut out at the beginning compared to the pc version, if i recall.
i’d hope they’ll put those bits back in.
jikomanzoku
Yeah, there were a few bits missing and altered – with co-op being even more adversely truncated. Echo your hopes about their reinstatement and your delight at a bit of duct tape too :)
JBoo
+ DOOM 1 & 2? :P Might get it then(but when it’s a bit cheaper)

30 quid? Even with 3d and hd I can’t warrant that. Seems a little silly to limit the market so seriously – I would have thought at 15 quid this would sing.
CrawFail
£30?!!!? It’s about £7 quid on Apple Store. For 30 quid you can buy a used Xbox and probably about 5 games.
Ffuuuuuckkkk thhaaaaaatt!
