Telltale’s The Walking Dead Will Have A Second Season

Telltale Games has announced plans to ship ‘The Walking Dead’ as a boxed product in the U.S.A. once all five episodes have been released digitally.

It seems the game has been a sizable hit for the company, “Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down,” said senior vice president of marketing Steve Allison.

The next episode is ‘targeted for August‘. I did a quick check on the PSN and the game is labelled as ‘episodic’ rather than ‘monthly’ so Telltale can take their sweet time releasing the game.

Fans of the undead and annoyingly long waits will be pleased to know that Telltale are already planning season two, “This will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do,” said Steve.

  1. Well I wonder how long it season 2 will be delayed for us europeans then?
*punches himself in groin for sounding too much like hazelam*

  2. This will come out when we are playing PS5 :D

  3. “scheduled for release in 2013, 2014 and 2015” no doubt

  4. Seriously need to work on the frame reate issues before they release another episode. So poor was epsiode two in terms of frame rate, story wsas good however.

    • Really? I didnt notice the framerate issues at all.

      • Likewise…finished it this morning…no sign of frame issues.

    • I had similar issues on my phat 40gig, skipping and low frame rate kinda ruined the immersion experience

  5. I don’t think I’ll buy season 2 as a download, as to me, this only confirms that they’ll be a disc version in the future, probably of both season, which will save me HDD space.

    • Why’s that? They aren’t very big and its not like they have much of a re playability factor

      • Episode 2 alone was 891Mb or something, so that’s approximately 5GB per seaon, or 10GB for 2 seasons. I just think they’ll do what they’ve done with BttF and release a disc version at some point, now that a second season have been confirmed. I think I’ll wait and see, worst case and they don’t, I can just download it. As for little replayability, that’s more reason to buy on disc, so you can trade in after it’s finished ;)

      • Agreed – May also have a plat if BttF is anything to go by! :)

I’m holding out for a disc.

      • The episodes have a Plat mate as the new episodes are done as DLC for the main game rather than being 5 seperate games like BttF was on digital

      • Oh ok, fair enough – More reason for people to be up in arms about the delay of the episodes then i guess!

People probably waiting to post their fastest platinum time… Which is now decided by not how fast they an get through the game, but how fast the content is delivered to them! :O

Still, boxed product will always be more appealing to me.

      • Yeah, I agree mate, I’d rather have in sat on my shelf rather than HDD. Especially if its a game that has been platted.

  6. Why do i get the feeling Half Life 3 will be out before the very first episode of the second season?

If it gets released on disc, i will pick it up as i’m a tight barsteward when it comes down to space on my harddrive. Mainly due to me having a 80GB phat PS3. And i cba to upgrade to a bigger harddrive. I can see sales falling when season 2 is released as some people may decide to save their space and wait for the disc version.

  7. Hm. I think that most people would be happier if they concentrated on getting the whole of the first series out before they started bleating on about how they will be doing the second!

I of course don’t know where the fault lies with the delay that we have just seen with the second episode, but i can’t help but feel that people will secretly thinking to themselves “well, that’s all well & good, but wheres episode 3? Furthermore, when should we expect episode 4?” etc.
