As we hinted at yesterday, there’s a chance that Rain is going to be the thing that was leaked just before E3 – its absence quite surprising but nevertheless a new reveal for something at gamescom is just as welcome.
As we’ve said a couple of times, Sony are showing two new games this month in Germany: one from Japan Studio and the other a Move title.
That Move title could be Rain, and if it is, could it be a Sucker Punch title?
They’re hiring, at least, and looking for a visual effects specialist. “We are looking for a technically minded visual effects artist to help us push forward what is possible within realtime VFX,” says one job description on their site, picked up by OnlySP.
“Deep understanding of timing, scale, color, composition, motion and physics for particle effects,” is a requirement of the role, too. If the leaked animated GIF is related to Rain (and we’ve spliced it up below into some of the key moments) it looks like being a Move-based fighter with Quick Time Events.
Obviously we don’t know anything official, but this could be very interesting indeed.

I don’t think that Rain is the game that is shown in the Gif since the title doesn’t look futuristic enough. Also, the game in the Gif is not a Move title, just look at the prompts. I do think that the game is from Sucker Punch, though; just look at the animation.

When I said title I meant the actual word ‘Rain’, not sure if it’s clear enough.

How do the prompts invalidate the possibility of this being a Move title? Not saying it is. I have no idea. Just curious why you are so sure it isn’t.

The observation I make is that the prompt for “triangle” is centered at the top of the image, same location as the button on a dualshock, but not on the move.

Also you’d think they had gestures instead of QTEs that only involve a simple press of a button.

What I’ve heard is that “Rain” is set in Scottland and the story follows the creator of the umbrella.
Sony will release a little USB-operated waterspraynozzle and a Move controller is needed that also can be used to aim the nozzle at other people in your company. A new twist in party games.
