This new trailer, designed to show off the hugely impressive graphics that CryEngine 3 is capable of, hints at the sort of visuals we can expect from next generation consoles like the PlayStation 4.
It’s quite amazing, the lighting especially good and the ending, with the helicopter, is stunning. All this is real time, apparently, and taken from Crysis 3.
If the PS4 can get anywhere near this, we’ll be more than happy.

That is why I want the next generation as soon as possible. Not because everything is shiny but because it’s giving devs more freedom to push the boundaries of technology.
Never really played a Crytek game for more than 30 minutes but I appreciate what they achieve with their engines.

PC’s have had the capabilities of doing this for a while and no one has ever pushed it that far since the first crysis and its all down to consoles being worth more.

The thing is those PCs capable of putting out such graphics are ridiculously expensive. If you had consoles capable of running games with such graphics more devs would try to push the limits like Naughty Dog is trying with the PS3.
That is the reason why I don’t want 10 year long console cycles.

That is a common misconception. I will try to keep it short but a PC that could run games like that would probably cost you in the region of £400-£500. Games are cheaper on PC and you dont have the need to buy a PC separate from your console. So overall its cheaper to game on a PC. I can do a long list explaining if its needed :P

It’s hard to judge the quality on the PS3 browser, so I can only gon on the comments.
I have yet to play a Crisis game. Waiting for a glowing console review.
