Currently available to pre-order via the PSN Store, Valve’s latest iteration of hardcore online shooter, Counter-Strike, will go live during next week’s store upate.
Featuring improved visuals and online functionality, Global Offensive is set to become a key player in the E-Sports scene. The latest Valve release not only includes new weapons, but new game modes as well, two of have been outlined in a recent post on the Official PlayStation Blog.
Both “Arms Race” and “Demolition” branch from genre-standard modes, though come with a twist. Every kill a player earns whilst playing either mode will refresh their weapon loadout with better guns. In Arms Race these progressive rewards are instantaneous, whereas in Demolition they are filtered into a player’s loadout with each passing round.
Billed for August 21st, Global Offensive is part of Sony’s PSN Play initiative which rewards gamers who purchase featured releases with game discounts. PlayStation Plus subscribers will also get some money off; US members will only have to pay $11.99 instead of the regular $14.99 price tag.]

I’ve already bought this on Steam.
Got the complete Counter Strike collection for €18 or thereabouts. Not bad. Still, I have to wait for my new laptop to arrive before I can play any of them (please be today).

I got this on Steam too, really looking forward to it, te Arms Race mod was great in CSS with the gun game maps, hopefully the mod scene will e just as big with this version!

If you’re talking about PSN Play, I think they said on the Blog that we’re not getting it in Europe, we get the summer sale instead.

I pre-ordered this on Steam last week too. £10.79 – a right bargain. It was only 2 quid more if you haven’t got all the old CS games and wanted them too. Shame they cancelled the cross platform servers though.
