Real Racing Returns, Looks Gorgeous On iPhone 5

Scheduled for release later this year, Real Racing 3 was debuted yesterday on Apple’s recently-unveiled iPhone 5. Published by EA, the Firemonkeys flagship boasts “console quality graphics” and will be a more substantive package as a whole.

The developer released its first screenshot for the authentic mobile racer. It’s gorgeous for sure though what’s most interesting is that the aspect ratios fit that of the iPhone 5’s 4″ retina display.

EA confirmed that it has more iOS games in the pipeline for Apple’s newest generation device though we’re dubious as to whether they’ll outstrip Real Racing 3.

  1. Impressive graphics, but I just won’t buy a racing game on a phone. I need my analog stick for stearing.

  2. Real racing has so far been the only game I really stuck with outside of Kairosoft games…but as I assume this will run like crap on my i4, I probably won’t get it.

  3. Can. Not. Wait.

  4. Looks great. I really, really want a 911 GT3 RS 4.0.

  5. I fear IAPs.

    • OK, now you’ve ruined everything for me. :\

    • Certainty. RR2 has them in the form of in-game currency. There not an issue though as the game was designed without there presence and were then added much later in the games release. Not sure if this was a decision by the studio or if they were given a little push by EA after the take-over.
Hopefully there as non obtrusive in RR3.

  6. Cars look nice, lacking textures on the track though

  7. Looks pretty, if very empty.

While they can render pretty textures, it appears they can’t render too many of them.

IAP purchases would scare me away.

Also, if games are developed for the aspect ratio of the iPhone 5, are older iPhones going to lose out? And of course, the iPad, even the latest one, will be hamstrung too.
