This week’s Store update has a nice spread of different content to choose from. There’s some DLC for an old favourite, a new sporty Vita game and some classic PS3 titles appearing in new clothes.
Gran Turismo’s latest batch of DLC is coming. It’s going up on the PSN Store but in stores this week you’ll also be able to get your hands on the Academy Edition of the game. That new edition includes all the DLC so far, too, if you’ve yet to take the plunge.
Starhawk’s latest DLC also makes an appearance, supporting the digital release of the game and the bonuses for Plus subscribers we talked about earlier.
PlayStation Essentials launches today too, bringing a range of old favourites including Uncharted, MAG, the first three Assassin’s Creed games and many others over to digital distribution at a discounted rate.
And then there’s Table Ice Hockey, an AR game for the Vita. It costs less than two quid and includes fights, so that’s nice.
Oh, and then there’s Tokyo Jungle, which I loved and the PS2 Classic for Grand Theft Auto III.

Mirrors Edge is how much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
scavenga
Come on now, that’s a bargain right there! ;D
mrfodder
I though that yesterday when I saw the American price. As for the European………….
Kev
Good update although why anyone would buy Mirror’s Edge for £15.99 when you can get it 2nd hand for less than a fiver is anyone’s guess (£1.48 + £2.03 P&P at Amazon). Is it really worth an extra £13 just to get it straight away? (if your internet connection doesn’t want to take eight hours to download it).
I would also take issue with paying almost £50 for F1 or FIFA. I just can’t see how they can justify the charge when they don’t have the same production or distribution costs associated with a boxed version. The other discussion about discounted digital downloads (although it looks like this is only in Australia?) hit the nail on the head; they’re scared of undercutting the shops. I’d be interested to know how many downlaods they sell at these prices.
Kev
Sorry, having a really shit day today
scavenga
You haven’t exactly stepped out of line, so I assume that’s okay :)
Hope your day gets better, though.
tonycawley
I’ve bought it digitally, as I did with mass effect 3. I see half of £50 for a brand new game of such quality and esteem to be a bit of a bargain to be honest.
tactical20
As someone mentioned the other day, if you get a pal to go halves on a digital version of a game, you can share it afterwards. So in that case, it’s quite good. (ie. FIFA 13 for £25).
cc_star
depends how much you play it to whether it’s worth it to you or not… I bought FIFA12 digitally and that was even dearer at £54.99 because I knew I’d be playing it for a whole year and having it on the HDD is a massive convinience.
Digital games are generally sold at their SRP… What would all the retailers worldwide think if EA (or whoever) sold them hundreds of thousands of copies of a game at price in which it is suggested they sell for £49.99, but then they go and undercut that. If a retailer wants to take a hit on their margins to gain extra sales that’s their choice, but having their supplier undercut them by going direct? No way, that’s not on.
As much as things are going digital, it’s still hugely important that publishers keep retailers onside which is why when they have the chance to sell direct they sell at SRP

Not saying I agree with the stategy, but that’s just how it is.

Thankfully you can download stuff from other accounts on the PS3…
I'd still like to know why it's not available in Germany…
Bodachi
Isn’t it due to German laws about giving away for free violent games?

At last LoL:D ‘Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker – HD Edition’ :P
mcphatty
I like the idea of Starhawk single an multiplayer sold seperately, very clever!
The Lone Steven
So still no counter strike. SCEE, did you lost the only copy Valve sent you and are too ashamed to admit it? As it seems so. That or their dog has somehow eaten it.
AC2 GOTY is a decent price. It’s the only decent price for full PS3 games this week. Except for Tokyo Jungle but that’s a PSN game that has a decent price.
Sad Panda
Some of those games are cheaper in $ on the US store than they are in £ in the UK. Digital prices already take the water, without the d act same digital file costing $40 or £58.
Sitorimon
Tokyo Jungle & possibly Page Chronica for me along with Klonoa from last week but yes, I’m with R1MJAW. I really want Dyad and if its not coming to UK shores that just means I’ll grab a US PSN so I can pair it up with Apples to Apples & Closure, the latter of which too has been MIA for us for ages.
Forrest_01
Jesus – How big is Tokyo Jungle???
I was expecting a few hundred MB, not a few thousand!
Shalashaska
Anyone know what the story is with the vita version? Has it the same features or is it a watered down version of FIFA 12?
Erroneus
Judging from reviews on Metacritic it doesn’t look good and would kinda explain why EA has been so silent about the Vita version, as looks to be a small update of Fifa Football and not a true proper port of Fifa 13.
Personally I’m waiting for some proper reviews and by the looks of it also a price drop or maybe even Fifa 14 Vita, if EA every decides to do a proper version.
cc_star
Yeah, it’s Vita FIFA 12.5 instead of a proper FIFA 13
Apparently FIFA14 will be the real thing :/
