Invizimals Heading To PS3 And PlayStation Vita

The Invizimals are returning, with two new games heading to PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. Previously only available on PSP, the brand new PS3 game will be called Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom and Invizimals: The Alliance is the name of the new Vita version.

The PlayStation Vita game will build off the previous PSP titles and retain the augmented reality angle (with 150 creatures to collect), whilst the PS3 game will offer up a rather more traditional console action adventure instead.

Cleverly, players of The Alliance will be able to link up with those playing the PS3 game via Sony’s still underutilised but technically rather smart Cross-platform play, with four player battles possible, and the exchange of bonus game items also on the table.

The PS3 game is being developed by Magenta Software, whilst Novarama retain development duties on the PS Vita version.

  1. Having been watching my wife play Skylanders recently and have the time of her life, I can see this being exciting news to her.

  2. PS3 Invizimals looks really interesting kinda like Spyro Skylanders, i might consider getting it, if it turns out good.

  3. Never had the chance to play Invizimals but from what I heard the series is pretty neat.

Actually looking forward to see how these two pan out. Hopefully there will be a cross-buy promotion at launch.

  4. Can see this going down well with my son, though I’m having enough trouble getting my vita off him as it is.

  5. Cross-play and cross-buy would make this very interesting. Fun games like this are ideal to play with the other half or my son.

  6. interesting game but I never had the chance to try it out because I had a PSP Go.

  7. When will Nintendo make an AR Pokemon? I like the idea behind Invizimals, but not the designs.

  8. Whatever happened to “the Vita doesn’t need AR cards!”? I seem to remember someone from Sony making that anouncement.

    • Yes and no. Sony has developed the software to do AR without cards. I think they showed it off on one of their Xperia phones, but the added precision you get with cards is worth it. Especially since the camera isn’t very good with low light conditions.

Street Fighter X Tekken could do it without cards, but with mixed results.

  9. Got this for my psp. It’s great news this. Cracking game :-)

  10. My ‘ahem’ nephwew would enjoy this.
